Bella has been playing human fear and shock so incredibly well. The thousand yard stare, the stiff body language, the seemingly involuntary vocal cry... it's such a realistic depiction of someone being traumatized over and over until they reach a breaking point.

I won’t be getting Bella’s screams out of my head any time soon. I liked the change of having Joel finding Ellie outside after the trauma makes it more heartbreaking because he doesn’t know what happened to her, but given her traumatized/terrified face, screaming and face covered with blood, he just knows that something awful must have happened to her. Him comforting her and saying the line “baby girl” made me weep. Hoping those two get Emmy noms! 💔

I totally see what you’re saying. Personally I do think there was something special about Joel pulling her out of that moment and understanding the severity of what she went through and wanting to comfort her. My biggest complaint though is the original ost (music) in the scene really added on and I think they should’ve used it. Smaller things I also liked how in the game, they had the camera closer to their faces (made it feel more intimate to me). Also the bright white ambience of the outside snow didn’t feel as personal as the warmer colors of the game. I’m probably coming off a bit too critical lol, but I am a huge fan of the shows adaption so far. This was my favorite scene from the game so it makes sense I’d be a bit more

Yeah definitely, and it kinda helps justify Joel brutally murdering both of them after getting the info he wants. Hearing *that* and knowing that the two men tied up in front of you were involved in it happening would leave 0 remorse in your heart to do what he did. But the show also does alot more to humanize some of the groups and them saying that would probably change our perception of the whole group to "starving misguided christians looking for a leader" to child kidnapping murderer cannibals. Troy's character saying "We can let her go but we can't take her in" shows the only one who had those kinds of intentions were David himself.

Him calling her a c*nt after she rejects him, his rage at being humiliated, at her being ‘special’ when he isn’t, how easily he contradicts himself, it’s all always the same and I love how honest this portrayal was. The absolute shocking contrast when she stumbled into Joel was like walking into another dimension, it devastated me. This was the episode I was dreading the most, because if they’ve managed to make the show as dark as they have then how dark were they gonna make the *DARKEST* part of the game. And yeah, they did not hold back. They made David in his last minutes even more disturbing than the game made him. And when David tells Ellie that she has a violent heart he had NOOOO idea. I would honestly put her near the top of the list of the most dangerous people in tv or video games. But that scene of Joel hugging Ellie and calling her baby girl still hits hard. Also I kinda wished that Troy Baker was cast as someone far more important than James. Still he was amazing and he had an awesome death scene.

This episode was crazy, amazing & scary - let me tell you when you have the will to live, that adrenaline rush kicks in, it’s no joke! Bella was absolutely amazing. I was so scared for her. I noticed when the town folk & preacher were talking about the food supply & when they were in the kitchen and the woman looked at the meat & asked what’s this I thought that was weird to ask - then when Joel saw the hanging “meat” to actually be humans - so you think that maybe all this time when they go out they can’t catch animals so instead they’ll just get humans?!

Such a touching moment between the two. And I really feel this is the episode Bella earned her wings. The pure rage she let out on David, with the fire burning in the background - was so good. This was a slow burn episode, but so well done. Masterful cinematography as well. Truly sets the stage for the finale. Overall, this was an excellent episode.

We finally got Daddy Joel officially back, but it was sad what happened with Elle had to go down to get him there. Happy that David got a big helping of karma later on. This episode hit me in the heart at the end after everything that happened. Also you could tell the ones that knew what they were eating and the ones that didn't. The ones that knew were looking at the food in a weird way. The ones that didn't look at the food weirdly were going to town eating it cause they didn't know. They have the Abby and Joel story happen no earlier than the middle of Season 2 or at the end of the season if there's enough stuff in the second game to draw it out. Enjoyed the reaction. 👍👍✌ out

Ellie killing David was fucking satisfying as it was in the game. Bella’s acting was amazing during that scene and also throughout the episode as well, I mean holy shit. If she doesn’t win the Emmy, I’ll be very disappointed. Also, Troy Baker killed it in this episode. He really should do more live action work in the future. The one hope was that Joel would be badass in this episode. In my opinion, because of how he is literally just coming to moments before taking out the first guy - as opposed to the game where he initially gets full strength to take them on outside - he is even more badass here.

The reason why there isn't much infected scenes during ep 6-8 is because it's winter. Real life Cordyceps' behaviour during winter is they control their host to hide underground until after winter when they come out to bloom and rupture over the skeleton of the host and spread it's spores....so it makes sense why you don't see the infected above ground during winter.

i agree with Andrew on the sense that we could've seen more of Ellie fending for herself. they took out her taking out numerous people to save herself and Joel, how she was out hunting with her bow and arrow for a while and managing pretty good and stuff. i guess since they made Joel "weaker" as they made Tess it makes sense for doing it for Ellie as well. i suppose they wanted to make it more realistic and less of the toughness necessary to handle the game action. although it would've been cool to see the characters be badass even if it was unrealistic, id let it slide LOL. its all good though, loved this episode so much and the whole show
