This was a really good, interesting and terrifying episode! The actor did a really good job of playing the cannibal, molester, preacher! He was frightening! Bella was great because I could feel her pain, anger and cry for mental health therapy! Joel woke up, went right into beast mode and started brutality killing people! ! I enjoyed this episode and I'm waiting to see what they have coming for us in episode 9! I would never want to get on Ellie or Joel's bad side!!

Well we finally got to see what Marlene meant when she said she knew what Joel was “capable of” and we saw a much more aggressive side to Ellie that some of us who played the game don’t see till we play as her or play the second game. Also it was nice seeing Troy Backer ( the voice for Joel in the game) make an appearance, he was James the guy that was always with the preacher David.

The father of the girl Joel killed will always be with her. I'm sure she enjoyed the meal. That's macabre. 😁 Another low point for Ellie, a turning point, so to speak. Here the animal in Ellie came out with her overkill and the experience she had to make. Almost r*p*d and eaten. Here she experiences for the first time the worst abyss in man. There is no more a way back for her. She will not be the same. The episode is also important for the future. It shows what Ellie is capable of. A dark side in her that people like David recognize. I also think it's cool that the torture scene actually showed us explicitly how Joel has proceeded over the last 20 years. This was the first time it was really shown why everyone was afraid of Joel in episode 1. And here is Troy Baker in a not so small role as David's henchman. You can even hear Joel out of his voice from time to time. Btw. It would also have been no problem for Ellie to bring the deer to the house. She just leaves it there and comes back with her horse and a rope.

love rewatching these reactions again since we won’t get TLOU S2 for a while. I won’t get Bella’s screams out of my head for a while. David preys on her worst fear-ending up alone. I feel like she took all of her pent up rage, fear and grief onto him: each thwack was for Henry, Sam, Tess, Riley, her mom, and for Joel. I think this was the first episode where we’re reminded as the audience that yes, she’s such a brave, mature teenager, but she’s also just a little kid who needed her daddy in this moment after such a traumatic experience. My heart broke. Loved when Joel grabbed Ellie’s bag-it’s such a dad move, and you know had he been too late and Ellie had been killed, he’d want to have it as his last piece of HER. He probably thought she was dead (he saw her bag, the horse and the bodies), but he still didn’t lose hope. Pieces of people he’s lost bring him comfort (the watch from Sarah, the butterfly stickers in his room for Sarah, Frank’s flannel, Bill’s coffee, and he makes the rock memorial for Tess). I also loved the parallel: David considers himself a “father” to his people, but one of the first things he does when he has Ellie is strip her of her hat and coat and leaves her to freeze in the (probably frigid) kitchen. Juxtaposed with Joel, her actual father, one of the first things he does when he sees Ellie is notice she’s shivering and bundles her up in his coat to try to get her warm. All those Emmy nominations are so deserved! I think we would all love a big bear hug from Pedro Pascal when we’re frightened. He just seems like the kindest, gentlest human being. ❤

As an explanation as to why no-one else is around, it's very harsh weather so I assume that, unless it's dinner time or a town meeting, everyone says indoors. They could have added a twitching curtain to the final scene just to illustrate that I guess, but for me it wasn't a big plot hole.

The vial containing the penicillin typically has the instructions for the route of administration printed on the label, and in Joel's case it likely would have needed to be administered intravascularly (i.e. by vein) and not subcutaneously like Ellie chose to do to increase the speed of its delivery throughout the body.

I worked in medicine for 10 years doing injections on patients. Penicillin is injected into a large muscle like the buttock or thigh for maximum efficacy. Putting it in the stomach is subcutaneous. Not sure if that would be effective. I could be wrong though. But it’s a tv show so anything is possible 😂

7:42 No. Alec is the grown man that attacked Joel with a bat at the university. Bryan is the teenager Ellie paralyzed in Kansas. Alec and the three men at the university are members of the Silver Lake cult. 9:54 While I know you know what was going on here, I don't think her question is all that strange. Knowing what you're cooking with tells you how you should season it, though these people didn't have much of anything left so it might not have mattered. 12:17 One day. David said they'd track her down in the morning, and that's this day. EDIT: 41:34 David said it was a 4 mile ROUNDTRIP from where they met in the snow back to Silver Lake Resort, so Joel only had to go two miles, but that is still a trek for someone still convalescing. That said, I ignored all that because he knew Ellie was in trouble and was up against a group of men. I chalked it up as Joel digging deep, soldier through the pain, trying to save Ellie.

Re the injection. Ideally you’d put it into muscle so you don’t hit organs or a blood vessel. Thigh or butt is best. You don’t need to put it near the infection because it can get there on it’s own and doing the shot where Joel was stabbed risks hitting organs/blood vessels. But she doesn’t know that and it would be awkward to get his pants down.

One thing I noticed, everyone in that group may "follow" David, but no one "loves" David. The fact that he enters the dining hall with stolen Elk and no one cheers or claps or even thanks him for providing food shows how he just irradiates discomfort. They hate him, his sermons, and his creepy face. I wouldn't be surprised if a few of them wishes for David to be taken apart by a hibernating clicker.
