“missing limbs” is kinda equivalent to “phantom limb syndrome” where amputees get excruciating pain in the spot of said missing limb. So that last line “and I live like I got missing limbs for you” is genius. Vessel is a genius.

The ambiguity of the lyrics make this conclusion to me real clear: No question Vessel's an amazing poet, however, this could be interpreted in two different ways. 1. He's a mastermind attempting to start a cult from music. 2. He's the biggest SIMP on Earth capable of manufacturing a whole band's career around a girl. Either way, we're all blessed to be living in a time where to experience this first hand.

I posit that human nature doesn't change and that cultures can experience waves of something like insanity. Human nature will experience these waves but it will always recenter. I'm trying not to despise the 'Goddess' talk. I think it makes Vessel's immense talent a bit cartoonish

In Atlantic he says "marry in the morning, and your bitter father..." I think he attempted to end his life because she was marrying someone else the next day.... "what you are to him" could be referring to the fact shes someone elses wife. Sounds like they met again later on, when the dust settled and talked. Also he touched on his own guilt for the situation being beyond repair, because his blood ran cold when he remembered what he did. Guilt is definitely something you can drown in. It's one thing to have your heart broken, but to be made to feel its because you're not good enough no matter what you do....Will send you over the edge, and I speak from experience ❤

This is a very long comment, but i have a lot to say. This is my favorite album of all time and it gets BETTER every listen. The ending - my interpretation is the muffled sounds of an ambulance (UK sirens sound similar, and have blue lights “blue light over murder for me” from Atlantic), almost as you might hear it if you’re underwater. I’m 100% convinced this is what it is. If we take a step back and look at it from the whole album’s perspective, I believe the intro track Atlantic depicts the events following Missing Limbs. They told us how it ends, then picked up the story from the beginning with Hypnosis. Just like they did with TNDNBTG and Euclid. So with that context, the last lyric to this song “I live like I’ve got I’ve got missing limbs for you”, followed by harmonizing vocals, cut to silence, then an ambulance approaching. The album comes completely full circle, and he wakes up in Atlantic. Also - as you mentioned I do believe it flows into chokehold as well. All of their albums flow seamlessly it seems. This album is an absolute masterpiece. If you pay close attention, this ocean/drowning theme is woven throughout the entire album. Has anyone noticed some of these strange outros on a few of the tracks? Listen to the last 20 seconds of Telomeres “Let the tide carry you back to me”. The last 30 seconds of Descending. The instrumentation sounds like it’s sinking deeper into the depths of the ocean. The drums begin to sound like they’re being recorded on a submarine. Can’t forget about the outro of High Water “wash me clean again before i pull myself beneath the waves”, where the screams get louder and more distorted as if you’re drowning until it cuts to silence. The drums in Like That sound submerged. EVEN the reverb on the guitars in hypnosis make it sound “submerged”. The video to Fall For Me, text on the screen reads “if we are to be submerged, let us be submerged together” as Vessel walks into the ocean. The visualizers show depth markers on every track. The level of detail put into every note and every aspect of this album is absolutely incredible. I’ve probably heard the album start to finish well over 100 times and I still notice new things. I loved seeing you guys react to this. Thank you for sharing your journey with us!

Thank you guys so much for taking this journey. Please don't forget to listen to the EP's from 2016 and 2017 titled I and II. That's the beginning of the story and not to be missed!

"to remember what you are to him" imo is coming from the changed perspective of Vessel's (Euclid's?) memory of loving Sleep. Missing limbs, something that was a part of you no longer attached. This band rattles my brain. I started my ST journey around the same time as y'all so this hit close to reach the "end". Will definitely listen to the podcast when it happens.

That's so interesting that you brought up the distortion at the end of "Missing Limbs" and beginning of "Chokehold" . Now that I listen to it, It sounds like the distortion in "Missing Limbs" is Descending and "Chokehold is Ascending. That's cool because Tomb is all about descending and Eden album about ascending. I never noticed...that's so clever. Vessel is amazing. Ya'll caught that too...I would never have figured that out so Thanks !!!

The juxtaposition of this song's lyrics and vibe to Eric's shirt is fantastic.

I've said it before, but I swear that vessel has had all this ready to go and seemed together. A whole plot.

The first time I listened to missing limbs i practically ran to chokehold. I was absolutely sure one ran into the other. This song is so beautiful. I love how Sleep Token can and does all different facets of music.
