The PNR will cease operations for 5+ years to allow for the construction of the North-South Commuter Railway Project (NSCR). The NSCR Project is a 147km (91 mi) railway that connects Calamba, Laguna, to the Clark International Airport in Pampanga. It will have 35 stations, which is the largest railway project in the Philippines. The NSCR will use an elevated railway and stations. For those who are asking what will happen to PNR after 5yrs well it will still operate parallel below the NSCR line meaning to say that there will still be a line below the NSCR that will cater the following services : •Local commuter (stops on all stations) •Freight Services (cargo trains that will operate at night) •long haul (From tutuban to Bicol and Tutuban to Northern Luzon Vice versa). The current trains that are sitting in tutuban and the other trains that are awaiting for repair right now will be relocated to bicol. As per say and also within the released documents shows that the at grade line will remain operational together with the NSCR.

Excellent video. I'm recently retired from the UK railway after 45 years. I finished in a busy Signalling Centre near Gatwick Airport. Always interesting to see how railways operate in other countries. Good to see rail making a comeback in the Philippines. The NSCR will be a great addition when it opens. A city like Angeles needs it's railway again. That will be a lot of buses to replace the PNR train service!

Di pa ako nakakasakay sa tren ng PNR, pero frequently kong nakikita o naririnig yan na tren mula bata pa ako. Lalo na kapag dumadaan kami ng pamilya ko sa ibabaw ng footbridge (na nasa 19:39 ) papuntang SM Bicutan ay nadadaanan namin yung riles. Noong ako'y maliit pa tuwing kami'y dumadaan sa footbridge, minsan nga ay timing sa oras na dumadaan yung tren. Sobrang tuwa-tuwa ako kasi rarely lang nakikita ko siya na nasa ilalim ng mismong footbridge na dinadaanan namin. I've always wondered what's it like to ride the PNR train tuwing dumadaan yan. kaya Thank you so much po na nadocument niyo habang nandito pa siya. pero sobrang mamimiss ko siya kc parang naging core memory ko siya from childhood 🥲🥹

When I heard about the termination of train operations this year so that a revitalized and modern train system will be in place in 5 years time, I felt glad that after a prolonged period of stagnation and snail-paced development, our train system will finally have its necessary upgrade. Five years is a long time, but if we finally have trains that can be considered world-class then I think it is worth waiting for and I am looking forward to that day.

Alam nyo minsan lang ako nakasakay ng PNR. Mula sa EDSA hanggang Blumentritt tapos mula Blumentritt hanggang Alabang grabe ang laking tulong nito. Grabe siksikan sa tren at para kaming sardinas that was 2018 December. Noong 2019 mula alabang hanggang EDSA hindi masyadong puno. Tapos December 2019 mula Dela Rosa hanggang Alabang ay grabe siksikan sa tren. At least nasubukan kong sumakay sa PNR. Noong nabalitaan kong isasara sa public ang PNR ng 5 taon malungkot pero wala na tayong magagawa para experience na natin ang modernization. Madalas kong sinasakyan ay bus LRT MRT. Kapag natapos na itong project naku dyan na ako sasakay papuntang Norte at Metro Manila. ito ang aking experience sa pagsakay ko sa PNR. See you on 5 years North South Commuter Railway. Wala na kasi sa North (La Union) ang PNR, yong nga Stations at mga mga bunahayan ng mga SQUATTERS kaya hindi ko man lang naranasan. Minsan sa LRT ay sumakay ako, sobrang CROWDED at Babae pa naman ang nasa harapin ko. Totoo, nahiya ako sa Babae dahil nakadikit na ang harapan ko sa mismong likod niya. Kaya nilagay ko itong Left Hand ko in between at sinabi ko sa Babae na pasensiya na. Mula noon ay hindi na muli akong sumakay ng Train sa Pilipinas...

Daily commuter ako nyan from '09-20. Kung nabadtrip ka na siksikan at mainit sa MRT/LRT, basic lang yan pagdating sa rush hour ng PNR at yung 203 series pa nasakyan mo.

I think it's just right for the old PNR to cease operations due to worsening train and railroad conditions. MRT and LRT is already way ahead of PNR in terms of railway technology. Looking forward to better services from the new PNR in 5 years! With that US, Japan and Europe, all experts in advanced railway technology like the TGV, Amtrak and Shinkansen should assist PH in the journey with the NSCR project. 🚄🚅🚈

The new NSCR will propel the PNR into the modern era. This is a small sacrifice for ensuring the country catches up and has future proof public transportation. You can see how fhe current system lacks the infrastructure and funds to maintain the tracks, there isn’t enough funds of will to fence off the tracks completely from the squatters who live next to it, and hence not being effective to stop squatters from throwing their trash, or build structures right next to passing trains and kids vandalizing the surroundings. The riding public deserves the same modern options of transportation that exist in all other countries. I just hope the PNR can be provided greater funds and include competent leaders with expertise abroad so they can maintain and close off the new NSCR line from intruders. The story of the PNR should serve as an example in how maintenance and security should always be a key concern in building a commuter line in urban areas. It is Asias oldest railway, but ended up being the most impoverished and non-innovative due to incompetence and a lack of funding.

Nostalgia...I've taken the Bicol Express to attend the Penafrancia, one month later the railway bridge in Quezon gave way derailing the train, buti na lang Hindi Ako natyempuhan, I've also rode the north route up to Tarlac.There used to be no bldgs yet bet southsuperhighway and the tracks so we raced our truck against the train fr Mailbay to Alabang, sino sa palagay mo Ang panalo.As a kid , I used to tambay at the Sta. Mesa station ,reading the stops all the way to Legaspi , chalked on a board, dreaming of the day when I could ride the long Bikol Express, I always count the no. of coaches , 24 !Ang haba! I have since rode many trains fulfilling my dream..Shanghai to Beijing, Moscow to Leningrad, Singapore to Kuala. Guangzhou to Hong Kong, Today. I still ride long distance trains trains, on KZitem

Mabuti sa albay and cam. Sur continue na si pnr at mga bago ang tren na pinadala. Inka ata yun the orange train wd stripe. Naga - legaspi ang byaje. At naga sipocot din ata may byahe narin. Sana medyo mapabilis ang pnr para naman maka byahe na ang mla. Bikol express. Old name mayon limited.
