Worth mentioning that Jon also survived his death and was betrayed by his own sworn brethren. I would imagine (if books ever came out) that these events will significantly darken Jon's character. It won't make him outright evil, obviously, but he will be more aggressive, more willing to get the job done and less concerned about playing fairly.

I'm so heartbroken for Katsumo he loved his culture immensely. To see it become completely obsolete must have hurt him unimaginably. His only solace in the end is that he died honorably with the last of his brothers and his new beloved friend who was once his enemy, was with him all the way to the end. The Samarai may be gone, but they won't ever be forgotten like Omura intended. They will always be honored in Japan, and that's a victory on its own. And even though his friend may be gone, Nathan stayed in Katsumoto's home in Japan to be with Taka.

Although pure fiction here. Since actual Japanese history is very interesting to me, I always have had a romanticized image of living in the countryside among the hills, small valleys and freshwater streams of Central Japan during this period. This whole scene captures that so perfectly. The music makes it even greater. The scene of him returning back from war against the empire, then becoming her "future husband", to fill in the gap he created by killing her original husband, essentially going full circle but with him actually surviving and realizing purpose in his life. Very emotional here...if you embrace the real Japan it can do that to you.

If you draw a tear to this it’s a sign of strength not weakness. I think this film was so in-depth. To do this film you would have to almost become samurai. But at the end meeting Daka must have been so special. Beautiful women…..
