This channel is what the PTCG needs to build a stronger competitive community akin to Magic and Yu-Gi-Oh.

It has always weird me out how almost all the content related to the pokemon tcg is collecting and selling cards instead of the game itself, im so glad that this year has seen a huge amount of content talking about past formats and how the game evolved
@bruhmphrey
11 ай бұрын
@@ripedroxx it’s really unfortunate, even though we have such thriving communities for competitive, the whole collector and *shudders* investor community overshadow them in the mainstream. I think the recent strides in deck accessibility TPCI has made has really helped bring people in. If you’re interested in another great channel for PTCG breakdowns TheDexLogs has a similar long format presentation style (mind you, PTCG isn’t their main card game). Also, don’t forget to share this video!!!!!

@@ripedroxxI’m a huge fan of magic and play a lot of different formats, well I have a son in the way and hope to eventually get him into the game, but I feel like teaching him something like Pokémon first would be a lot better because of how complex magic is, but I feel it’s so hard to find channels of a good quality to learn the game and strategy and things like that. It’s a bummer, especially since when I was a kid in gen 1 I actually played the card game and didn’t care about the collecting and value. It was a tcg for me not a ccg

Also one other rec is maybe filling up that black screen at the start. Some people have very low attention spans, so it would be cool to have a silhouette of the Pokémon to break up the initial void

Just a quick note: Hisuian Zoroark VSTAR’s attack doesn’t require the damage be on benched pokemon, so it caps at 300 and 450 damage without and with sky field in play, respectively Either way loved the video 😊
@Artifacter
11 ай бұрын
And even then you technically dont need to run sky field, as with wally in expanded you can easily hit stuff for 300 on your first turn, gapejaw bog has better utility in most cases

I would also like to mention Gengar VMax was used at a regional with Arceus VStar in the first north american regional post COVID. In combination with Choice Belt it was able to win the mirror thanks to its bulk and ability to check Mew VMax.

Killer video homie. I never knew that I needed this type of content in my life and I love it. Side note: there's a weird formatting issue at 16:36 when you're trying to show off the tournament standings for the Gengar lv.X decks and it gets covered behind the cards. Regardless, great job man!!

One of my favourite decks back in the old gameboy games was using Fossil Gengar along with Fossil Raichu (the one that had Gigashock for 30 damage + 10 damage on up to three benched Pokemon.) It was clunky as all hell and never would've worked in real life, but it was real satisfying to watch the AI squirm as they tried to prevent knockouts.

Breakthrough Gengar was a favorite of mine ^_^ there was a brief season where Noivern from an earlier set wasn't rotated out yet and could deal 30 damage to each pokemon on your opponent's bench, after a couple turns of setup it was pratty fun getting to set up multiple turns of knockouts back in XY era

I’ve barely played the TCG, just goofed off with some starter decks really. Had no idea some of these mechanics and strategies even existed. That HGSS lost zone deck in particular seems super cool, messing with your opponents hand and forcing discards before cards are even played, not to mention an entirely different win condition. So sick.

Vilegar was hands down my favorite deck in any TCG I've ever played, the format right before black and white base was so much fun! If they didn't early rotate right before nationals Vilegar easily would have been one of the best decks at nats and worlds.

I feel like you kinda undersold Gengar Vmax. At the first regional after Covid, Gengar Vmax was in 3 out of the top 8 decks. It won the regional in combination with Arceus, and Single Strike Gengar made both top 4 and top 8. Although the card did basically nothing for the rest of its release, I feel like a mention towards its domination of a tournament was warranted
