"People would hear that my mom beat my brother with a two-by-four and take that out of context." The context: The mother was a "small woman" and needed the mechanical advantage of a weapon to inflict sufficent injury on her son so he wouldn't misbehave again (and it probably didn't even work because this is abuse, not parenting.)
@cringusmoss9937

All the evidence points to abuse not even working. Even if you set aside the cruelty, long term mental issues and the very real possibility of inflicting life long injuries by accident it doesn't even WORK. Although based on these groups history with science in general can't say I'm surprised they keep doing counterproductive shit despite all evidence to the contrary.

I feel so awful for those kids. I'm a survivor myself so this is a sensitive subject for me. I just want kids to be able to grow up safe and happy and call out abuse where I see it.

As a survivor of abuse and neglect it is reassuring to see someone get angry on the behalf of survivors. I hate how unfazed I am - yes, it makes me angry and I want nothing but the absolute worst to happen to these "parents" but I also have this unsettling familiarity with what I am hearing. It is so hard to surprise me with the lengths people go to to hurt kids that never asked to be born. And then they go and call queer people groomers.

The work you do is incredible, Jordan. I’m not surprised that Steven’s children have reached out to you, as you’re probably one of the first people who’ve listened to them, believed them, and made them feel safe to share their truth. I was a pastor’s kid, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I’m fortunate that my dad was pretty left wing and progressive compared to his peers (I think a lot of that was my mom’s influence), but he was still a part of an oppressive institution that upheld a lot of harmful traditions (purity culture was big in his church, and so was the “love the sinner, hate the sin” attitude towards LGBTQ+ people), and us kids suffered as a result. I can’t imagine how much worse it would have been had my parents been stricter.

Of course, aren't we all surprised. Man gets accused of DA-ing his kids. Should he step down? Response: No, so and so pastor isn't a bad person for DA-ing his kids. It's the enemies of God trying to bring down a God fearing man and destroy their family cause they hate God. Did I mentoin that they hate God?

@@deaddomain Ps. I assume you've worked out that Steven was and is planting a defense to spousal abuse as "consensual" BDSM. Hence why he is telling everyone to mind their own business. It's clearly not BDSM but full-on spousal abuse - and neither John or Isaac or anybody outside the New IFB is taking the ruse. Given Steven's whole shtick is about "reprobates" it's clear he is now well beyond desperate and John etc (you included) are running rings around him. Hardcore members of his church are now going online defending the BDSM - "which is nobody's business". Can't make this stuff up.

I understand the sickness, anger, and hatred that turns my gut when child abuse is described. You are not at fault for feeling it and expressing it. It is righteous anger, it is righteous disgust, it is righteous hatred. It can lead to dark places, but punishment is immoral, and knowing that anchors me to reality when I spiral in such direction. I know what it means to see a toddler be beaten for crying, I know it because I saw it. It fills me with disgust and anger to hear people tell of being beaten with cables, and I can still feel on my skin the sting of being beaten with cables and belts as a kid. I know what it feels like to be "disciplined" because every family relative of mine was a child abuser or an abused child. It makes me wish punishment is not immoral and ineffective, because those scum get away with child abuse for flimsy justification of "disciplining".

I am a Christian. I was a conservative Christian growing up. I listened to Limbaugh while I played video games just like you. I went to college and needed some elective credits. I took religious studies courses on the Bible. Over the years I have been part of multiple faith communities. I have listened to really in depth Bible podcasts. I'm no scholar but I think I know more than most who don't have degrees in it. I am a fully out transgender woman who likes your channel so you can imagine that the conservative interpretations of the Bible faded away the more I learned and the more I realized my faith was hijacked by right wingers. I currently serve on the board at my church. I am loved and accepted there. Thank you for not only preaching against this kind of shit but providing more Christlike and accurate interpretations of the Bible and my faith. You understand Chrisianity better than most Christians. Also to add to your thoughts about how they worship Paul more than Jesus, a few of Paul's letters, scholars don't think he actually wrote. There are too many linguistic differences. It was customary back then to sign the name of someone you admire in writings. Most of Paul's shittier takes are from the letters where there is doubt that he wrote them. Also Paul elsewhere seems to contradict those takes. For example, there is considerable evidence that Paul championed amd encouraged women's involvement in church leadership. One of my college classes was exclusively on Paul.

Yu Gi Oh prices fluctuate more because of banlists, so old cards often drop out of the meta and lose their vlaue, whereas with Magic stuff rarely gets banned and the meta is governed by avalibility. So there are really old cards out there that are unspeakably broken and command huge prices, but almost nobody has them. Both can be really expensive depending on how competative you want to be, but what specific things are expensive and why varies.
@gloriouslumi
Күн бұрын
Nobody plays Power 9 (the most expensive cards). They are banned in virtually every format. As with all things secondary market, price is determined by *both* availability and playability. Of course, as a game gets older, cards don't get reprinted as often, which reduces availability. The playability of the card in formats that are currently being played determines a penny-card vs. a hundred dollar card. That said, I despise the secondary market in all TCGs, and much prefer CCGs, like MTG: Arena, and LCGs like Lot5R

To the person who suggested that hate is contrary to “the Word of God”, with all due respect, you are a huge part of the problem. The fact of the matter is that the Bible is an irreconcilable irredeemable mish mash of hate, atrocities, and cruelty, with some compassion, selflessness, and love mixed in. Although to be fair, the balance is massively tilted in the direction of the negative. So please, I cannot stress this enough, stop pretending like the word of god is this sparkling monolith that if only we squint hard enough and seek to understand the proper context will always show itself to be a bastion of goodness and love. It’s not. On the whole it depicts an evil unjust vengeful bloodlusting god whose very commands may be used-faithfully and with no misinterpretation-to justify all manner of wicked and indefensible behaviors. If you want to cherry pick some of the nice verses out of context and suggest that they provide some helpful moral guidance, fine. But please stop making excuses for a book that contains so much inexcusable and manifestly evil material.
