Jane Seymour had a lot to live up to being Henrys third wife, but she well and truly met all the expectations that were put against her. Jane gave Henry the son he had been wishing for, the air to the English throne.
Jane's legacy is actually an important one. She gave the king an heir but she also restored the relationship between Henry and Mary that helped the restoration of Mary and Elizabeth to the succession and their fathers affections.
Jane was then buried at Windsor Castle, in St Georges chapel and was the only Queen consort under Henry VIII reign to be given a Queens funeral. During her funeral, Janes step daughter, Princess Mary acted as chief mourner and a procession of 29 mourners followed behind. One for every year of Jane’s life.
Join us as we learn about Janes life and the effects she had on the lives of those close to her.
