Really sorry to hear about Pete's passing. He was a larger than life figure for this baseball-obsessed kid back in the '70's. He always played the game the right way, something sadly lacking in today's MLB, for the most part. And yes, I do think he should be in the HoF. RIP, Pete.

I always thought he should have been - but maybe after a penalty time of X number of years which he already had “served” and then some. Gamblings big in the USA and many succumb to it. Or maybe they should have given him a big penalty and warning and then if he repeated it been stricter with him. I just think it’s a shame his playing record isn’t being recognized in the iconic Hall of Fame because of his gambling vice. Maybe someday down the road he will be given leniency on this issue posthumously.
