Not Presidency. The Queen is the Sovereign. Johnson was Prime Minister/First Lord of the Treasury which traditionally is first among equals of the members of the Cabinet of Government Ministers, who are the Queen's Ministers and supervise the Executive/Civil Service. It has been this way since the early C18th (and is one reason there was not, in fact, a tyrant on the British throne when the Colonials committed treason with the French, who were at the time actually ruled by a tyrant, in 1776). The job goes to the leader of the political party which has a majority (or, rarely, the leader who can build one in coalition, if required) in the House of Commons. Johnson got the job because the Conservative Party made him their leader, and, at the last General Election, the Conservatives won the most seats. That's why he is lying (natch) when he talks about being mandated by x million to be their leader. He wasn't.

I was at Oxford in the next door college in his later years there. What enrages me and saddens me, particularly because he still remembers it over 40 years later, but sadly does not surprise me is the abuse that the poor lad attending for his interviews suffered at his hands in the bar. I can imagine it all too well. What is truly frightening about this is that although we, the people, can do nothing about him until the next general election, the conservative MPs with full knowledge of this did not vote to oust him when they had the opportunity. That of itself speaks volumes about the type of government we have and the party of government we have. And, if it is to be believed, they did not vote to get rid of him because donors said that they would not continue to give money to the Party if they got rid of him. Utterly shameful. Him and his party and all his MPs rotten to the core party. I despair.

I once wondered where the nickname Tory came from and when I found out, it all made sense. Origin of the word 'Tory' - Definitions from Oxford Languages. mid 17th century: probably from Irish toraidhe ‘outlaw, highwayman’, from tóir ‘pursue’. The word was used of Irish peasants dispossessed by English settlers and living as robbers, and extended to other marauders especially in the Scottish Highlands. It was then adopted c. 1679 as an abusive nickname for supporters of the Catholic James II. ...It was then adopted by a political party of Bullingdon Boys that showed absolute disdain for the people who's blood, sweat and tears kept their country bumpin' along.

I had the misfortune to encounter some members of the Bullingdon Club in 2006 when attending an MG Owners Club monthly meeting in a gastro pub in rural Oxfordshire. The MGOC meeting was in an upstairs room and the first we knew of these louts was things getting noisy downstairs followed by breaking glass. The pub landlord shouted up the stairs that we should stay put. Fifteen minutes later we heard police sirens and a dozen or so police officers arrived in three vans. From the upstairs window we saw many of the louts being bundled into the police vans. When it was safe to go downstairs to get ourselves some drinks we saw staff sweeping up broken bottles, glasses and plates and the food which had been thrown around, some of it at the staff. The landlord told us that one of the more sober louts had placed around £2000 on the bar as he left to cover the damage. I wouldn't be surprised if one or more of the gang of louts is now a Tory MP 😕

For those saying it’s the political system that’s at fault, that’s a cop out. It’s the majority of voters who are at fault. As George Carlin said ‘if you have selfish and ignorant people, you will have selfish and ignorant politicians’. That’s not to say that most people in the UK are like that, they are not. But a slim majority of the current generation of people who are entitled to vote definitely are, and when they fuck up they do what all entitled and delusional people do, they blame something else, like the ‘political system’

@@Jim54_ Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. In effect we still currently have a two party system, they share power between them and have long done so. Cameron got a hand up from the LIb Dems, they were prepared to jump into bed with his Torys for: " a taste of power." I stopped voting some years ago after discovering a number of interesting things about politicians, Tory and Labour. They run the 'system' between them. I do not say it lightly when I suggest that all people standing for public office should have to to take a psychological test. In my opinion and based on personal experiences Johnson is not by any means the only liar in British politics, even though he 'might' be the most prolific. Politics attracts the wrong sort of people for a number of reason, one is the 'power' thing, another is ego and then you can add the psychological make up of the individual seeking public office.

Surely, the fact that he got to the top of the Conservative Party and was then supported and defended at every stage by senior members of that party tells you all you need to know about them. British politics had deep fault lines before his arrival but 3 years of his tenure as PM has debauched and debased Parliament and public office.

Just finished watching it and all I can say is Bloody Hell! Some of it I didn't know about and some of it I'd forgotten about. And as the child of a single mother I'm especially angry about that bit. He insults me and my mother. She was a single mother due to personal circumstances, it had absolutely nothing to do with what Boris claimed. It really shows you what kind of party the Tories are that they voted Boris into the PM job despite all this being known. The other parties should show this video as a party political broadcast during elections. To think he's been like this since his school days. It really does show that his lovable buffoon image really was just an act to hide an unhealthy mixture of arrogance, entitlement and incompetence! The sooner he goes the better.

This video should be compulsory viewing for EVERY person who is eligible to vote. If a person hasn't watched this - and hopefully thought about it! - they should NOT be allowed to vote. Full stop. The fact that many people do already know this, and STILL vote for him - what kind of a society does that make us? Without hope. This is a brilliant video, so well put together, no frills, no drama - just facts. Thank you - and please carry on with what you do.
