In this video I introduce you to the lightest cooking systems for the three major fuel types, gas, alcohol and Esbit, and compare various advantages and disadvantages for ultralight trekking. In addition, I show you different stoves and pots in use and calculate the theoretical consumption for different trekking tour lengths.

34:07 - The lightest Esbit cooking system
42:28 - Conclusion of the comparison
You can find all the mentioned items from the video here:
► EOE Lithium (44g) amzn.to/3nhVuh4
► EOE Titanium (48g) amzn.to/3jtVjOG
► BRS-3000T (25g) amzn.to/2ZkQHTV
► Evernew 760FD (69g) amzn.to/3pti4Gm
► Lixada Titan 1600ml (184g) amzn.to/3jt2LJF
► Keith Titan 900ml (126g) amzn.to/3E77xo9
► Esbit Titan stove (13g) amzn.to/3ndCIay
► X-Boil FS 90-100 (42g) www.x-boil.de/varianten.html
Calculation of cooking system weights:
Note: This calculation is only a very rough estimate under various assumptions! To determine exact values, the following points, among others, must be considered individually:
► Different gas stoves are differently efficient and thus have a different consumption.
► Spiritus does not have the same density as water and is lighter depending on alcohol content and outside temperature. You can find a table for this here: www.internetchemie.info/chemi...
► Different wind conditions and outside temperatures cause different consumption values
► Gas cartridge weights and filling volumes differ depending on manufacturer
Esbit does not have a consistent flame until the end. The last grams that burn down do not have the same heating power as at the beginning.
Per day was calculated with the consumption of 1 liter of boiling water.
This corresponds, for example, to a hot meal and two hot drinks (coffee/tea).
Lightest gas system (10g gas consumption per liter):
► BRS-3000T: 25g (EOE Lithium 44g / EOE Titanium 48h or Soto Windmaster 67g).
► EOE Titanium windshield L: 18g
► Gas cartridge 100g container: 90g (130g for 230g gas, 200g for 450g).
Total: 133g
Consumption calculation:
100g gas: 10L water = 10 days - total weight: 233g.
230g gas: 23L water = 23 days - total weight: 403g
450g gas: 45L water = 45 days - total weight: 693g
Lightest spirit system (25g spirit consumption per liter):
► X-Boil FS 90-100 UL with windscreen: 41g
► Spiritus 500ml container: 11g
Total: 52g
Consumption calculation:
100ml spirit: 4L water = 4 days - Total weight: 152g.
250ml spirit: 10L water = 10 days - total weight: 302g
500ml spirit: 20L water = 20 days - total weight: 552g
Lightest Esbit system (19g Esbit consumption per liter):
► Esbit Titanium UL stove: 13g
► EOE Titanium Windshield S: 9g
► Ziplock for Esbit cubes: 1g
Total: 23g
Consumption calculation:
► 95g Esbit (5x 14g, 5x 5g) : 5L water = 5 days - Total weight: 118g
► 190g Esbit (10x 14g, 10x 5g) : 10L water = 10 days - total weight: 213g
► 380g Esbit (20x 14g, 20x 5g): 20L of water = 20 days - total weight: 403g.
