I really don’t understand people that appreciate the hobby and do not appreciate the science that goes into speaker development..I used to be a huge fan of the Auto-hifi magazines they used to do really good testing and you could find awesome gems like the emphaser xt3 series really good bang for the buck..These days we can be happy that there are still brands investing in Auto hifi and developing speakers and amps..because the scene has become a lot smaller..

The car audio industry is full of so much misinformation and shitty products that understanding the Science to some degree is almost a necessity to avoid spending my money on crap. If you go into your typical shop many of those people don't even know. May have never even heard of a Klippel machine or what an anechoic chamber is. Maybe my expectations are a little to high. But considering what you are paying for some of these component sets I don't think its to much to ask. We have objective solid science on what speaker performance is and how it should measure. If the people selling the speakers have no idea about that that is a problem.

What do you use to protect the speaker from teh outside elements? The rain guard that is under the speaker in the floor. Hopefully you'll see this or someone will and could link me to what it is. I love the idea of IB to the outside of the car and would be great for a sub woofer in a spare tire well. Thanks for any help, cheers!

Awesome info, i've tried a similar thing on a BMW F30 for HAT Legatia L8SE Carbons... while i wen't over my "fear" for water by using rain guard ... i could not stand the wind noise/driving/tires noise (over 60-70 km/h ) it was sounding like the car is not "insulated" or such like a lower tier car (not that f30 is very well insulated but still). Did you ever had this issue? Second question is, this thing needs to be completely sealed from the interior of the car? or a large/sturdy enough baffle it's enough/taking account the carpet that will cover the rest? Keep up the awesome work!
@pssound9749
4 жыл бұрын
Crismariu Gabriel you only need isolation between in-/outside. If the cone is too thin, then it can raise noise levels coming through yepp, then you could play with aperiodic membrane too.

Peter I got a question: when you seal the car cabin, what do you do with the various air "vents" in the chasis? I mean there are air vents everywhere connecting cabin to the outside and to the trunk. In the kicks and in the C-pillars especially. I'm going to build my first SQ-ish build in our family car and I'm afraid preventing the air circulation would be dangerous (causing the cabin to overheat in the sun, suffocating when you don't have the air conditioning turned on)... Since I'll be making this car for a daily driver car, I'm afraid I'll sacrifice the practicality of the car for the long journeys or family trips, and on the other hand since I'm making an infinite baffle sub, I would pretty much like to seal off all the slots and ports. Just wanna know your expert view on this specific subject since I haven't found any solid information on the net. . Very nice video btw, thanks for sharing!

Remember to show us what kind of resonance there is between floor and roof. i had bass under seats and i got high peak at 180hz
@pssound9749
4 жыл бұрын
м that peak can be due to many things, but it’s rather due to the room mode of the cabin. Deadening the roof wouldn’t change much in that respect.

This is a homebrew material. Made from resin, mixed with some kind of powder. Different powder give slightly different characteristics, but all of them give a very good strength. You may use metal powder or fiberglass poder or wood dust...
