Drove semis for 17 years in the states. It looks so small on a flat map. Texas looks so small on the map also, but if you go from El Paso, Texas to Texarkana, Texas it is the same as going from Nantes, France to Berlin, Germany.

@ryofang I've been to all the states and providences between Texas and Alaska as im a 3rd generation trucker that was born and raised on the road before becoming a driver myself. and I can tell you it would definitely be a trip to remember if you ever got the chance to make the trip irl.

Just watching this brings me a ton of memories. I used to run flatbed along this route almost every week. Obviously very compressed, but I am shocked at how detailed and accurate this is to real life. Especially the Haugan median scale. Spent many a nights there!

My boss handed me a brand new canary yellow W900L in 98'. I drove it for 17 years and put a little over 2 million miles on it. I miss that truck like it's a dead relative lol.

Do the bottom of Mexico to the top of Alaska. Then go to Ets and do the closest part in Russia to Alaska and go from Russia to South Africa.

`This is a very nice, well done video. It helps me relax, makes me travel. I like the fact that you stop for sleeping. I dont know much about the game but do you have to respect and fill out a log for working and resting hours like in real life or you do it for the realism? Love the video

The game has a feature sort of like this, but it only makes you sleepy in game(screen starts fading to black when your hours are up), I don't know if it's accurate, I've had it turned off for years. But I still like to keep track of the driving hours and sleep when needed. I've thought about getting a real log book as well and filling that out for each day, ATS is a perfect game for role playing like that.

@@alpha2project I actually did over the road trucking for 1 year right out of college because it interested me. It was amazing at first and I got to see a lot of the country but living in a truck 5-6 days a week is just not for me. Road trips in Europe would be awesome though! So many countries that you can drive to and visit. Imagine a road trip from northern England all the down to southern Italy or even southern Greece. That would be amazing!

I'm actually interested in this kind of thing. So, for nine days, does that make the map 1:1? American Truck Simulator looks great. I haven't got it yet. But I'm interested in making the actual trip distances. I understand the simulator covers 20 miles for every mile in-game. Is it possible to get true distances? It looks like that's what this is. Cool find.

No, this is still 1:20 scale, 9 days in game time, so the time goes with 1:20 scale as well. There is a 1:1 map mod you can download, the Alaska Dalton Highway map. But it takes an incredibly long time to develop a 1:1 scale map, so the quality might not be the same as the original 1:20 map.

Yes! There is also a Mexico map mod and a 1:2 scale Australian Outback map, other than that, it's mostly just mods improving the current official map, but there are probably some more I haven't heard of yet. There is a Coast to Coast map mod as well, which has all of the states, but because of the size, it's not very detailed and has many problems.

This was the longest route by far and quite unusual for me, I mostly like to do smaller trips, less than 300 miles, so I don't even remember anything longer. Probably something from Washington when I tried to get to the Texas border before the DLC release :) I've been thinking about getting a steam deck too, but I already have a switch and hardly ever use it, so it wouldn't make much sense to get another portable system, it does look cool tho :D

You can't make your own routes, but there is more to choose from, and even more if you buy your own trailer as well. I think there is an external progam that you can gernerate a custom route with, but I haven't tried it.

I think it's really expensive, so it is hard to recommend, but overall I'm happy with it. Looking around feels more natural than you'd think. Definitely makes the game more immersive for me. I haven't tried it for other games yet, but I'd imagine it would also be really good for racing sims. If you have a wheel in your setup, it can complicate things a bit though. For me, the wheel is interfering with the line of sight for the sensors, so sometimes I need to sit in a weird position for the tracker to work properly. You could also look into TrackIR, I think it's more precise and easier to work with if you have a wheel. The only reason I didn't go for the TrackIR over Tobii is because they don't ship to my country.

I picked up a load in Prudhoe Bay to deliver to Colorado. I took the ferry to Washington, once I landed, a message popped up saying, "The customer needs the load to be delivered on time." This load would've landed me $365,000. Apparently, the ferry takes 110 hours to get from Alaska to Washington. Is there a way to rectify this so I don't lose out on these loads?
