A sermon delivered by C.H. Spurgeon, Sunday December 14th 1862.
Here Spurgeon uses allegory, in a style not dissimilar to Pilgrim’s Progress. He describes a prison with different categories of sinners kept within. He shows how sin enslaves us and destroys our joy. Jesus is the Liberator, but so many do not see how near He is, and how swift their freedom might come if they only looked to Him!
