I love how genuinely creative the boss fights were. Typically you would save the T-Rex for last, but it's actually the 1st boss you face. Then you fight Deinosuchus which, while unexpected, fits right into the universe and is absolutely terrifying. Then you get to the Carnotaurus and it's... weird. The first time you see it charging towards you, your brain has merely seconds to process that it can *turn invisible*. Not only that, but it looks and sounds unlike any other dinosaur you've ever seen. It's such a surprising example of artistic risk in a video game adaptation that the Carnotaurus encounter has stuck with me for years as one of my favorite video game moments. I was even more delighted to find out that it was paying homage to the novel. It always made me wonder if there was an early version of the film with the Carnotaurus scenes intact...

0:55 That part when the female rex comes out from the mist still gives me some chills. Besides the chameleon-type carnotaurus, I bet those rex chases in the game were inspired not from the Lost World movie but from the novel instead, and that's surprisingly cool!

This is still the best looking JP game, yes, even in 2022, look at the t-rexes and the raptors, the models and the movements are extremely movie accurate, a lot of the modern JP games failed to captured. I have a very clear and fond memory of this game. I was a dinosaur fanatic as a kid, and I grew up watching The Land Before Time and Walking with Dinosaurs and this was my first introduction to the Jurassic franchise. My dad took me to the theatre to see Disney's Dinosaur and I loved it, and after the movie was over, I noticed this in the arcade and we played it together. @keith4391
2 жыл бұрын
Well, not exactly, but let's say it's an original Jurassic Park carnotaurus concept, but that comes from the novels/books. Here's a comment explaining better that I also told someone else: It's not exactly a chameleon-hybrid carnotaurus. This carnotaurus is from the novel/book The Lost World that doesn't appear in the movie, so the game ended up using it maybe? It turns out that in books, dinosaurs obviously don't have complete DNA, just like in movies, because obviously, DNA isn't perfect after millions of years. They can't recreate dinosaurs with just mosquito blood in amber and remnants in well-preserved fossils, so they use DNA from other dinosaur-like animals such as reptiles or birds to fill in the gaps and complete the DNA of a particular dinosaur. It turns out that, in novels, dinosaurs end up with characteristics of animals whose DNA's were used in the composition (which I love in the books and I think it's more realistic, since they actually have DNA from other creatures, and in the movies they come out practically perfect ). In Jurassic Park, for example, the tyrannosaurus has a snake's tongue and has the ability to swim due to crocodile genes and the like. In The Lost World, we have carnotaurus with the ability to camouflage, for example. So I think so, they're actually hybrids, but because it's the best scientists can do. If you think about it, they're not dinosaurs brought back to life, they're new, laboratory-created creatures similar to dinosaurs.

In the morning i woke up and raided my moms purse for coins lol, went down and beat the game. The employee told me theyd never seen anyone beat it before. My parents thought they had been robbed when they woke up as i had left the wallet open on the table, until they saw that the only thing missing were coins. They werent that upset with me since it wasnt allot of money(max 10$) but they did lecture me not to steal lol.... but it was totally worth it 🙈 edit: it was actually super stupid of me since my mom did spoil me on vacations and had i just asked the night before she wouldve given me the cash to go down when i woke up.

This game just makes me think, I think the reason why the newer Jurassic park movies weren't that good, or at least as good as the original is because the ogs felt more like horror-esque, monster movies. There was a genuine terror that the characters might not escape or even survive. Meanwhile in a movie like the first Jurassic world, that's only a feeling when it comes to side characters that we don't really care about, like the security forces that get wiped out by the mutant dinosaur. They try to make it intense but it doesn't really mean anything because they're just nameless nobodies that we have no connection to.

When i was a kid i see carno i was scared he is so scary
Man out of all the boss fights I found thhe carno to be the most annoying as I always found it to be such a bullet sponge, even the Male T-Rex wasn't such a pain

From what I've heard, Phase 2 of the Deinosuchus Boss Fight is actually another croc. It's the first one's mate, and it's out to get you. For the longest time, I myself thought it was the same dino getting a second wind.

What did they do to make that Carnotaurus half chameleon

They used frog DNA.

They probably used chameleon DNA too for cloning this Carnotaurus. Also this Carnotaurus is heavily based on the Carnotaurs seen in Michael Crichton's Lost World Novel, where the Carnos had the ability to camouflage.

It is the carnotaurus from the novel/book The Lost World. He has chameleon genes to fill in the gaps in his DNA. In Jurassic Park, the tyrannosaurus had a forked tongue like a snake's and could swim like a crocodile because it contained the genes of these animals. I love it in the books because it doesn't come out perfectly identical creatures to the past and it's the best science scientists can do. But I don't understand the reason for making the carnotaurus like that since in the movies, they practically ignored the fact that dinosaurs have genes from other animals and the dinosaurs were practically perfect, so they should have followed a more real model of the carnotaurus.
