These scenes aren't entirely necessary, but they do give a bit more context to the plot, and some of the characters. I do wish they had made it into the film as it doesn't greatly extend the overall runtime. I especially like the scene with Roland Tembo, as it showed who his character is, and why he became involved. I really do like The Lost World, it's a decent sequel, and a sensible follow up to Jurassic Park. I like the moody atmosphere that distinguishes itself from the look of the first. I also like the characters, but there are too many, and the final product is a bit clunky, but for me personally still quite enjoyable.

There are some similarities to Dodgson, and Ludlow's death, were the infant T-rex feeds on him, but thats about it. the Boardroom scene is great, led by Arliss howard's acting which is shown well in this scene, it makes Howard's character come across as intelligent and savvy, where in the actual cut he isn't focused on much and is needlessly and endlessly antagoised even by his own men, which annoys me. It also explains the companies motivations well and why they support Ludlows strange idea of a new park. I also love Rolands scene, funny how a couple of minutes of footage can extend Roland's, Ludlow's, and Ajay's characters so much and how much better the actual film would have been. I'd rather they kept these scenes in rather than the attack on the girl which Hammond explains well enough alone, and the T rex causing wreckage in San Diego which is just a ripoff of KingKong.

I don't understand why the Ingen scene was deleted. Probably would've been the most important scene in the series due to the continuity and information it provides. It allows us to understand Ingens motives and aims as well as what they wanted to do for this movie (which the audience could only figure out much later on). As well as this, Ludlow's character is elevated by a mile due to this scene. How could you not include the line "I do not work for mother nature, I work for you" in a Jurassic Park movie? There is barely any connection between the 5 movies released. It's just new storylines, nothing connected or interlinked. It is hard to understand what has happened off screen simply because there is barely any information provided to us in the movies regarding the same. This by far is the biggest mistake the Jurassic Park franchise has made. It sets the tone for the movie and my god imagine how it would have improved the movie. It could have improved the subsequent movie as well.

I really like the scene with the *ingen* conference room. It really cements just how cold and geedy *ingen* is as an entity. In TLW, they came across as more of a mercenary group. These movies really shine when they put focus on people's emotions & motivations. Same when they display how the dinosaurs interact with each other.

I would've liked Roland as our protagonist of The Lost World. It would've differentiated itself a little more from the 1st movie than what we got. Not a paleontologist or a teacher like Grant/Ellie or Malcolm, but a hunter, someone of a little more questionable morality but still honorable. His mission to hunt rather than to study a dinosaur, very badass. It would've been epic.

Mike T Unfortunately, directors are always under pressure to keep movies at a watchable length. Most audiences can't stand a movie that runs longer than 2 hours but I loved Apocalypse Now and that's wayy over 2 hours. I've also sat through a nonstop UNCUT Godfather marathon and watched all three. The run time was probably over 10 hours! I've also watched all of the Scream films on Netflix all at once and seen all of the Ring films at once. If the Lost World had included one or two scenes, it would not have hurt the movie. But again, I can sit through movies a little longer than most people find comfortable.
@drenrin2120

I honestly hate how many scenes get cut from movies. Yeah, sometimes it's necessary, but cutting a scene for being "entirely exposition" isn't really always a good reason. It sounds like pandering, and honestly, it's not entirely exposition, it effectively leads into the conflict for the rest of the movie. It does a better job then the rushed conversations we got between Ian and Ludlow and Hammond that leave us to fill in the gaps. Granted I was young when I first saw this, but these scenes would have cleared up so much for me the first time watching it.

In case anyone is wondering, these aren't the only deleted scenes from The Lost World: Jurassic Park. There was supposed to be another deleted scene specifying Ajay Sidhu's death. Or in other words, it would've been the extended version of the tall grass scene, where it is actually shown how Ajay Sidhu is seen in the tall grass, looking around and accepting his fate after four raptor heads seemingly run towards him and simply closes his eyes. And that's how Ajay Sidhu's death was actually confirmed, which would've been better to see since it didn't feel like it was enough for Roland to just reveal to Ludlow that Ajay had died all of a sudden in the scene where the male T-Rex was captured. I even saw a video where it was revealed that the scene was filmed especially with pictures that were posted in a part of the video where it was actually talking about how it was supposed to be.

there NEEDS to be an extended cut of this goddamn movie. it is unfair how only the biggest fans can fill in the holes of the story. it's a shame how so many people to this very day think jp 2 is so inferior to jp 1. in reality, both are excellent, but jp 2 just needs much more time because of how much is going on in the movie. there are tons of excellent 2 and a half hour long movies out there and even longer ones, i truly do not understand why so many scenes were cut. i once read a book in a now closed library about the "making of" jp 2 and aside from these cut scenes, there were so many more. i might be overstating things now (because of extrapolating) but the san diego part of the movie could have totally been made more legitimate and not look so slapped onto the movie. hell, all the fan theories of the boat crash could be eliminated if you just showed us what the hell happened there. also, where the hell is nick (vince vaughn)? i thought he was the main environmentalist for christ's sake. 2017 is long over, so you missed the 20 year anniversary, but i really expect this to come out for the 25th in 2022.

I like both of these scenes (although the sound mix in the Roland scene is clearly not final, in addition to the stock sounds you can hear Pete Postlewaite jump his cue on the line about the aftershave) and I think the fact that they were cut exposes the flaws of this movie. The first scene concentrates on plot and the second on character. This movie was not interested in either, selling toys and outdoing the actions scenes from the first flick were the order of the day. I see why they cut these scenes though.The first would have bored the shit out of kids (even though it serves as a very interesting link between the two films) and the second isn't really necessary to Roland's character. We establish everything we need to know about him in the arrival of Ingen scene.

The boardroom scene was a good cut: Most of the information is repeated later by John Hammond, and it's a dull start to a summer blockbuster.
