It's obvious that Crichton feared and hated science merely because he didn't understand it. What it is, how it works or even the purpose behind it.

He had great respect and interest for it it seems to me. You should read his physical books. They are full of science anecdotes and sources and the bottom of the pages.

He may not have the details exactly right as scientists have been trained, but he totally gets human behavior. Scientists aren't special and above human behavior.

I don't think it's science that Crichton spited but rather corporate greed and how people of wealth will abuse powers that they don't truly understand for the sake of profit without caring about the consequences that may affect others. In the first book you see that a lot, especially with Hammond. The old man reffered to himself as a dreamer but he constantly talked about investors and profit and making money by using the dinosaurs as attractions in the park while constantly waving every problem or sign that they were way over their head as a minor setback. He retained this mentality even when people got eaten or mauled and his very own grandkids were being hunted down by the dinosaurs. Even beyond Hammond, you can see the theme of corporate greed repeating itself almost constantly in the first story. Executive meetings, investor talks, illegal experiments, corporate espionage (which is pretty much what caused the already troubled park to completely spiral out of control in both the novel and the movie alike). Jurassic Park wan't a disaster caused by science, it was a disaster caused by greed.

ah yes, a summa cum laude graduate from Harvard, and a Harvard MD - both clear indications an individual has no grasp of science.
