Goodness, I have watched 100's of training videos and none have ever explained this in such a logical way. I think this IS the most helpful instruction I have ever seen. Thank you so very much for sharing this. Also, your how to turn the shoulders video is absolutely priceless. Both are so important. Your ability to communicate and teach is outstanding. Thank you again......I know this will help me without a doubt.

As a 'golden years' veteran swing coach, I like to 'surf & see' who's teaching what on YT ( a medium that stopped my chronically bad habit of watching TV many moons ago ). Martina''s instruction is solid, & I applaud her for a valuable, accurate demonstration of this most necessary concept. What I hear most from students is ... "I know but my body doesn't want to listen to my brain." Sorry but this is the rub in golf, & the only remedial solution ( that's not guaranteed to work with each attempt ) is to take time that most don't have to practice hours on end. Unlike other sports, golf DEMANDS you master at least 15 various types of shots in order you score well. ( sigh ) That said, I'd like you all to note how Mariana's upper / inner arms remain connected ( or as I tell my students, "Glued" to her core, through her entire body rotation ( something mainstream terminology mistakenly calls, "A swing." ) Also, bringing one's mass into the golf ball's path is essential. Keep up the great work, Martina. I subscribed.

I love your instructions BECAUSE they focus on the very basics that us amateurs need and likely never master. This particular video may be the most insightful I have ever seen on controlling the low point to compress the ball and take a divot. None of the other instruction I have followed have ever explained the low point in this matter. In fact, the "new" emphasis in teaching is focused on shallowing the club which will result in tops or fats UNLESS you implement your teaching on the low point. Thank you. Today was my FIRST day to try this on the course and I hit every fairway and 14 greens.......shot 4 over. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Great video, Martina! I used to have a Nick Faldo video from the 90's on the full swing. At one point, he offhandedly said, "The lead shoulder, of course, must come up on the follow-through." Great little lesson. First one I have seen to describe what you must do with respect to the shoulder in such simple terms. Makes so much sense as the shoulder is clearly the centre point of the swing. I believe we guys would learn more from womens golf swings than we ever could from trying to do what male pros do.

Excellent information! THIS is what I want to focus in on. I've never quite focused in on this move. Even though your swing looks perfect, I never "dialed in" on the shoulder movement, now I will. This move/feel is one that I never thought about implementing. Bottom line is that I need to feel that my lead shoulder moves slightly downward in the takeaway while my trailing shoulder (right shoulder for me ) moves back. This is proper rotation when the golfer has correct bending of the pelvis at address. You can watch videos of Hogan, you will see this move as well. BTW, I would never challenge you to a game because I noticed the middle of your clubface has evidence of being CONSISTENTLY hit!

Martina, I do have a question. During the backswing, would I make better contact by keeping my left arm straight in front of my body or allow it to cross my chest at the top of my swing? I believe I have trouble returning the club square at the bottom at contact because I leave the club behind my left shoulder with my body out racing the hands and clubhead to the ball. Typical miss is to the right push or if I flip at the bottom I tend to hit the heel because I close the face too fast and hit the ball on line but fade it. I'm always thinking I'm coming over the top but the ball rarely comes out left? I'm trying to decide if I'm playing the clubface too closed as a compensation. I do know I hit the ball more flush when I open the clubface. Sorry for the long winded comment/question. I'm 61 and been playing with the same swing faults for 30 years. LOL Hopefully you can help me change that! Thanks, Jeff

Great Video. Question if I may. Where should one position a 54 degree club relative to the low point? Currently I put it more towards my right foot (back of the stance) but now this seems too far away from the low point. Thanks.

I would prefer to have the ball always centre or even a tiny bit left of the centre of the stance with a wedge...Right in the stance. you will have a very deep low point...

Hello Martina. Very good viewing and teaching on the low point of the swing. My only concern is would this lifting of the left shoulder encourage early extension, and if so how would you stop this.

Of course you gotta keep your bodyangle. You have to stay bent and maybe you wanna watch the ball more sidewards flying away and not with a high upright finish.. Hope that helps!

I’m having trouble with the swing plane, I’m told that I need to shallow”my backswing, and not to come from such a steep angle. I had a lesson that put obstacles that I had to swing under in the backswing and again in down swing, which is pretty hard for me due to bad knees. I know the angles of attack change depending on the club and I know it’s true at least with driver since my longest drives (by far) are times I hit the ground first on accident. But I’m not exactly sure why that is, Because my main focus is hitting up on the ball and it feels solid goes high, but not far, unless I hit the ground. Sorry this rambling reply got long, but I was wondering if you could speak to angles of attack in a video. I just recently came upon your videos, and I think you’re the best around.!

Thank you for your excellent teaching. This video helped me very much. When I concentrate on my left shoulder going down then up, during the swing do I also shift weight to my left and rotate my forearms? Or just stay relaxed and concentrate only on the left shoulder? A few of the swings I made worked well. It seems too simple only to concentrate on the shoulders. thank you, Jeff

Hi Jeff, if you really stay back and pull your shoulder up, your low point will stay behind the ball you could hit it fat or thin. You have to shift onto the left leg and pull yourself up along a wall in your mind. I might do a video about this. But it also depends where you are coming from. If you tend to be behind the ball mostly, you gotta initiate the shift. If you are far ahead and too much left normally, what a few golfers do, its enough if you think pulling up the shoulder... Hope that helps!

Hmmmm I always thought the sternum was the low point of the swing for your irons. If anything I struggle the most hitting fat shots. If I position the ball more towards my armpit or shoulder, I’ll hit the ball even fatter. What am I getting wrong? Thanks for your video.
@martina_eberl_coaching_en

Glad you are writing me, cause the sternum is certainly not the LowPoint. Its the center of your body which is supposed to be centred. Fact is, that your LowPoint is "behind" the ball at impact, could mean e.g.: your shoulders are pointing to the right (closed as a right hander) at impact, or your are hanging on your right foot to long and not shifting enough onto the front leg. Try to turn your shoulder more through the ball and get your left shoulder after the ball (left of the ball) at impact. Without knowing you I can tell, thats the two most reasons why you hit it fat. There are many more reasons like hitting it too steep etc but try the first thoughts and let me know how you are doing!

Hi Martina, thank you for all this explanation. Can we say that keeping the hands low in downswing would help? The left shoulder should be pulled up and back, yes but when does this start? As soon as downswing starts or it is more gradually during the downwing? Thank you again
@martina_eberl_coaching_en
Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't call it down, the hands should actually do not much. Look at all the really good ballstrikers, they really try to keep the hands quiet in the same position and bring it back the same way with the body working. Best example is Tommy Fleetwood. Have your hands slightly in front of the ball and keep it this way, you will dependent on the Ballposition, always have a good strike... The shoulder should move up very quickly, never shall go sideways or even lower in the beginning of the downswing... Hope that helps!

@@martina_eberl_coaching_en Hi Martina, thank you for your explanation. I will try to get my leading left shoulder up since I know at impact mine is only little high (due to my flat shoulder downswing). Just to clarify, would you say that at impact the left shoukdet should be up but more square to the target or open? I see that prof have more up but more square (maybe pictures are telling another story). By the way, I am refering to the driver. Thank you.
