Actually one of my favorite parts of this bike is the simplicity in the controls and fairing. I really love the cockpit of this motorcycle, I think it’s one of the most attractive looking cockpits out today with the small gauges in the handlebar clamp, the air openings in the fairing, and the single headlight. I am not even into Harley’s, and I find the low rider ST very cool.

Going to disagree somewhat. I don't need an iPad but I can't stand that tiny gauge. It looks like the same one from the Street Bob I test rode and I couldn't hardly see a damn thing on it a lot of times. Honestly I think HD sorely whiffed when they discontinued the Sport Glide. It had the forward controls and the proper telemetry display, but only had the 107. If they would've stuffed that 117 in that bike, it would be the perfect bike for the soft tail sporty touring class. I have the 2021 Sport Glide and I completely love that machine! I have put over 6000 miles on mine in less than a year & a half!!! I ride it any chance I can make an excuse to. It is very confidence inspiring going into corners. My only complaint with it would be the sound, but that is getting fixed with a stage 1 kit this spring. I turn 62 next month and buying a new bike. I have owned 4 Harleys my last I sold 17 years ago which was a StreetGlide with the 88 engine. I did as stage 4 because I love torque but was never happy with outcome of the build. The thought of a 117 on a bike that is 150 lbs lighter is already making me smile. Plus at my age weight of a bike is important so the lighter the better. I was even considering the New Indian Scout 101 because that bike weighs 572 lbs. But then I saw the Sport Chief with bigger engine so It's now down to the Indian Chief or the Low Rider. I want to giggle when I twist the throttle. Only thing I would change on the Harley are the pipes. I think the fairing is tall enough for someone my height. Thanks again for a great video!!! Safe travels my friend. EDIT....I was wrong, this bike is only 100 lbs less than StreetGlide. Only thing I would miss is having music but just learned that new helmets allow you to Bluetooth music into helmet even though I also love the sound of nice pipes and open road. Do not need music but it was nice to have on longer rides. And you nailed it. I am one of those old farts that want to go fast on the straights and slow on the corners. I am stoked no pun intended.

Spite, I'm 6ft at 300 pds . I ride a 2008 Softail Custom, and I had to put 2 inch over extension forward controls with floor boards to feel comfortable. Baby apes gone it felt wobbly, so to say . Put a 12 inch riser with 12 inch drag bar being one piece without no pullback and a gunfighter Saddleman seat to feel comfortable . Plus, I got a Saddleman Explorer seat it's a gel seat with the memory foam for my wife, so her kitty cat wouldn't get sore . It's very comfortable, but I can't feel the road response . The things we do for our ole ladies . My bike obviously is a 96-inch with Vance&Hines FP3 Bluetooth tuner and pipes . That FP3 tuner is a blast to self tune your bike . It was still running rich, so I called Vance&Hines, and they fine-tuned it from California, and I live in Connecticut . They even said good job filling all the boxes . Every gear just red lined it . When is enough enough for these cruisers . Harley's are built around torque, not horsepower . The bike I bought mileage was 21k just about showroom condition for 7k . Now, my stance on these Harley Davidson can really suck crap . There is no Harley Davidson worth over 20k. Sorry for those who truly just pissed their money away . And for what I even dragged raced, a 107 cube motor couldn't pass him, but he wasn't going nowhere himself pretty much almost neck and neck . So are Harley's great bikes, yes ! But are they great bikes for 20k plus HELL NO ! Sorry, the truth is the truth . And I'm a Harley fan boy to the max . Even the Gold Wing isn't worth it as well . And the G.W. is a much better tourer than any Harley Davidson ever will be .

They should have put the Low Rider S instrument cluster in place of that slim little gauge thingy. And you are 100% correct, that bike is not worth an additional $5-7K (let's not BS anyone, no dealership is selling this at MSRP) over the Low Rider S. I actually think the Low Rider S is at a VERY good price and likely would have bought one, if the dealer hadn't been trying to jack the interest rate up to 24%! Coming from the Super Sport side, the first I noticed was the handling on the low rider. I mean It handles good for 20 degrees of lean after that it seems like it's a fight to keep it at a deeper lean angle. VS My Honda CBR 1000RR, which dives into turns and is effortless to keep it at a deep lean angle. Allot has to do with the weight distribution, tires, precision engineered balance and of course Horse Power. My CBR is I believe is 496 LBS wet with stock 135 HP that is a huge power to weight ratio, equivalent to a 1300 HP car approx. Having said that, I did not buy my Harley expecting it to perform as my super sport in no way how shape or form, I bought my Harley for comfort, style and a lifestyle change. I'm 55 I don't care about riding with my jacket on fire anymore, however I did keep my CBR just in case I got an urge to rip up the road again.

In the Southwest, I'm thinking it's going to be closer to $26 or 27k out the door, with no HD financing. You can pick up used Sport Glides, if you can live with the M8 107, for a hell of a lot less. Knees are high, because they're mids. Go to forwards or even extended forwards if you want them lower. With forwards, you actually get some extra lean clearance as well.

LOL "for a Harley." There's some truth there and that's why it rolls off the tongue so easily. But for those that have noticed, it's getting said more often because H-Ds stuff is getting better. Except for the RevMax system... quite a few bugs to work out there....and I hope they do before the Bronx shows up.

My 2011 dyna street bob makes 106hp/122tq and thought it was the fastest thing on the road...until I picked up a z900 for a second bike. Learned I had no idea what fast was until I had a "actual fast bike "😳

I just purchased the new ‘23 ST (in white, didn’t like the gray) a few weeks ago. I upgraded from an Iron 883.. and I can’t even put into words how unbelievably happy I am with this thing. Yes, the price was my biggest concern. And even at 5’6”, the controls are not my favorite, but MY GOD. I’ve put almost 800 miles on this thing already, and I can not wait to put thousands more. This is the “middle of the road” cruiser between the Sporty and full-size bagger that I needed in my life. I can’t get enough of it. For me, the simplicity of it was fine as well as the lower-decibel mufflers. I’m really not a fan of having a loud bike. But that’s just my preference. I think you definitely hit on all the main points, but I’d like to add that this super nimble for a larger bike, and it barely feels 700+ pounds. It definitely makes me giggle when I hammer the throttle. I do not regret this purchase, at all. Great video!

These are my sentiments as well! So damn fun to ride. I’ve had a Rocket 3 and a Street Glide and neither made me smile nearly as much as this bike.

Despite the price, I think they move alot of units, it’s just enough sport just enough touring without being too much of either. I’m not certain future HD buyers are all looking too much into road or street glides too much, imho

I haven't watched a Harley review in years. To me it's like watching a review of a piece of equipment from another planet that I don't understand. I have three street bikes. Two have air cooled two valve twins in them. The heaviest one weighs less with me on it or the other two combined weigh less than this one motorcycle. The whole street bike industry makes bikes that are far too heavy. Harley has them hold its beer.

Great review. Just bought Fast Johnnie version of this bike. It is pricey, but the fun factor is through the roof and I’ve had a few fun bikes (KTM Super Adv R, Rocket Roadster, SG Special…). None came close to matching this bike’s handling, power and comfort (6’6” with forward controls and tall boy seat). I dig the stripped down cockpit but understandably it’s not for everyone. The 117 in this bike is no joke. Gotta test ride one to “get it”.

I love all the lowrider S but if I do end up getting one forward controls are gonna be a day one necessity, I was considering the ST and was planning on getting the audio kit, the dash from the S for the analog tach and a ram mount android auto head unit but that's gonna be so expensive I thought at that point I might as well have sprung for the road glide ST and called it a day

What makes it unique is biggest stock motor, inverted forks, dual discs, hard bags, fairing, stock t-bars with mid controls not a floor board. Every other Harley your taking some features and losing others or vise versa. Only thing it needs is a radio.

How would you like to be Spite? Talk about “falling upward” ! Gets fired from his job with little to 0 notice, has to participate in a video about his own demise, suddenly finds himself without steady employment or the access to all the sweet bikes he was enjoying on a daily! Turns around and grows his own channel at a record pace, buys a new motorcycle of his own, and now he’s spending the next couple of weeks riding around, filming, talking, and enjoying a brand new Harley Davidson Low Rider ST. Not bad.

I ended up trading the 22 Lowrider S in for the Glide ST and skipped the Lowrider ST. I'll consider it after their next redesign...which with Harley could be around 30 years.

There are actually two types of Sports Tourers, you have the easy one; the Touring Sport bike. My Triumph Sprint 1050 is a good example. It's damn fast, handles well but has a comfortable enough riding position and wind protection for longer journeys. The Tracer you mention I would say is the same kind of ST, Yamaha's FJR1300, Honda VFR 1200 etc etc with the ultimate of this type being the H2 SX. You've then got the other type which I think the Low Rider ST probably fits into really well; the Sporty Tourer. In the UK it was bikes like the Honda CBF1000 and Suzuki Bandit 1250, as well as Triumph's old Tiger Sport 1050 that fit that definition quite well; big, comfy lumps of practicality with a bit more suspension to make it fun enough in the twisties and able to do the proper touring work. I think Sporty cruisers like the Low Rider ST fit much better into the "Sporty Tourer" type of ST, at which point it probably does pretty well against other new options. I do actually really like dash on the Low Rider ST, it's simple in a way you just don't get any more. I can see why the colour might not be the best, but as a simple, no-nonsense dash, it's a well thought-out design, obviously intended to be as slim as possible, even invisible, but I can appreciate it's not everyone's cup of tea.
