The Luxembourg pavilion's design incorporates the Chukoh Skytop PTFE membrane to convert the intense sunlight of Dubai into a gently diffused, natural light that casts soft shadows. This choice enhances the pavilion's ambiance.
For the pavilion's exterior, 2400 square meters of Skytop FGT-800 material is used, providing a Visible Light Transmittance (VLT) of 12%. Meanwhile, the interior shell utilizes 2300 square meters of a finer PTFE material, FGT-250A, with a higher VLT of 18%, ensuring brighter interior spaces.
Event Rescheduling and Collaboration
Initially set to last six months in 2020, the Dubai Expo was postponed for a year due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, taking place from October 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022. The theme of the Expo, "Connect and Collaborate," was embodied in the construction of the Luxembourg Pavilion.
The pavilion's PTFE membrane facade showcases the synergy within the global Taiyo Kogyo group, demonstrating effective collaboration. MakMax Taiyo Middle East provided engineering support and fabrication services alongside our European team. A total of 4700 square meters of PTFE membrane panels were manufactured in our Brisbane facility and then transported to Dubai for installation by the Taiyo Europe team.
Achievement Recognized
The project was awarded at the STA Australian Textile Fabrication Industry Awards 2022, in the category for Tension Structures larger than 2000 square meters, showcasing excellence in textile fabrication.
