Music will always be my favorite part of a game. Even when I'm done playing it, I'll continue enjoying its soundtrack

My favorite soundtrack of all time has to be Persona 4 Golden’s. I started playing it near the end of 2020, which was obviously a hard year for everyone, but the game, and especially its soundtrack, really helped me cope with what was going on in my life at the time. It’s what got me into the Persona series, and I’m so glad it did. Also you did a fantastic job on this video, and I’m definitely looking forward to see what you do next!

Donkey Kong Country 2. David Wise has a way to create such beautiful, mesmerizing tunes that feel like the natural sound to whatever level they play in. They can be incredibly somber, serene or even sad. Sometimes I'll put on the soundtrack while driving or walking or something just to get in the zone or think about things when I'm having a hard time or even reminisce. It means a lot to me and I treasure the memories and support the soundtrack has given me through life.

so many songs from that game and even that series are so amazing, it is crazy how nostalgic stickerbrush symphony makes me feel, that song is so bittersweet sounding for no reason

Ever since middle school, I found myself wanting to listen to the soundtracks of movies or TV shows more than "real" music. High school was when my enjoyment of video games became a genuine passion(and obsession). This was when I started to listen to video game soundtracks almost exclusively. If I show my downloaded songs, it's like 80% video games. My family only recently stopped caring. My parents especially wondered why I like game music over "real" music. My uncle, being a musician himself, was the first to actually listen to me and understand why these songs were so good to me. Thankfully my parents have long since stopped having issue with it. Some of my favorite OSTs of all time. - Xenoblade Chronicles/Xenoblade 2/Xenoblade 3 - The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword/Spirit Tracks - Halo/Halo 2/Halo 3 - Fire Emblem: Three Houses - Shrek Smash n Crash Racing (I'm 100% serious. Listen to it) - Transformers Devastation - Super Smash Bros Ultimate - Tetris Effect

the thing you said about how we associate the video game music with our experience playing the game- just. Yes. exactly that. and this isn't exactly the same, but i like how this applies to a lot of other stuff. like, i'm an artist, and whenever i'm painting and i spend a lot of time on a particular part of the painting while listening to a certain song or album, i'll look at that part of the painting and remember that song or album, or vice versa, listening to the song or album and remembering that part of the painting.

Video game music, is one of the things that got me into making music. I grew up as a Nintendo kid, and I love all their vgm, sometimes I sat at my 3ds Home Screen just listening. I also try to make my music as if it were for a video game. So thank you for taking a little dive into vgm, you have earned a sub.

i will forever bring up game OSTs when recommending music. The Risk of Rain 2 OST is one of my favorites, even standalone. OneShot also has a great soundtrack. Hell, UNDERTALE is incredibly iconic and even someone with no knowledge of the game has heard of it somehow. Some compositions are genuinely iconic and their participation in games creates a loop where not only do they bring power and emotion to the game, but the mere act of playing a game while listening to the songs brings them power in return

i almost put undertale in this video, but i honestly had no idea where to put it structurally, i love it to death and i love Undertale (the song) as a composition

These videos are so well put together! You do a really good job with making them, and as for the question at the end, my favorite game soundtrack is probably a tie between Neo: The World Ends with You and AI: The Somnium Files. Both for similar reasons of fitting the game they appear in so well while also being just nice songs to listen to in their own right.

I played it on Switch and it worked really well aside from a few performance issues at times, but that's kinda expected for a Switch port. As for other platforms I don't have any knowledge about them personally, but from what it looks like the Steam and PlayStation versions work great. Probably just comes down to if you care about portability at the cost of some performance and load times

Mario galaxys sound track is amazing. And so is the ole minecraft one. I also really like the soundtrack of the last of us, thats probably cuz i got so emotionally invested with the game. Another one is bloodboorne, fuc, the night unfurls really swoops me away in its glory. Majula from dark souls 2 is so relaxing, i feel like a baby bird, and the song is me mum craddling me to sleep in a very comfortable way. I havent played the persona games, but i think i have to now. Also, yur channell is sick dude.

Crazy this only has like 100 views. One of my all time favorite game soundtracks is from Night in the woods. Its so nastolgic and warm to me. It just feels like being wrapped up in a cozy blanket watching the leaves fall. As an adult now i can relate a lot more with some of the struggles and story beats in night in the woods. It holds a very special place in my heart

My favorite game soundtrack is probably Fire Emblem: Three Houses. The little details like how it seamlessly transitions to separate, more intense and percussion-focused versions of the battle themes whenever a character is attacking are wonderful. And Three Houses has some of the best songs I've heard in a video game ost, like Apex of the World. Three Houses has some amazing battle themes, if only they were on Spotify.

thats one of my favorite things games do, where they make music adaptive to gameplay, i would’ve done a section about it but i probably would’ve just gushed about batman arkham city for about 10 minutes

This video is way too personal, the actually factual and interesting things are said in first 5 minutes and can be written down in a few points: Videogame music is special as a medium due to interactive nature of videogames. Videogame music plays a large role in the experience as it can effectively leverage emotions. Good videogame music will be remembered outside of videogame itself. Most of the video is just "i liked music of game X because it makes you feel Y during Z" without much factuality. Yes, sad songs make you feel sad, i knew that already as it was the goal of the composer to make you feel sad and it plays during a sad moment. I was hoping for an analysis of why exactly it portrays these feelings, how it was used so effectively and a round-up of final conclusions. This is just nostalgia fuel otherwise in which i have no interest.

That would be a really interesting video to make, what video games actually do psychologically to attach themselves to moments in time. Sorry that my videos tend to be very personal, I’ve noticed that in a lot of my writing, and I’d honestly like to make this video again when I’m better at it. Maybe in the future you’ll see that video from me.
