You're understanding of both the original songs theory and the runescape sound of "what makes runescape music sound iconic" is insanely impressive.

Thank you! For better or worse, a lot of my habits when composing songs are inspired by the RuneScape OST so this channel really is a perfect creative outlet for me and I’m absolutely privileged to combine that with songs that I love and appreciate deeply! -Sam

There's a lot of people who just download a soundfont, download a midi, and do a quick replace down the line. It takes maybe 10 minutes and it is really, really obvious when someone does it.

This is genuinely such a fascinating process, esp as someone who Does Not have the head for this kind of thing 😅 Also appreciate the comparison to using fanfiction to develop prose!! That's exactly how I use it and have grown so much as a writer, so it's a dead on comparison that a lot of folks won't acknowledge. It'd be great to see a behind the scenes about the album covers, too, because I'm astonished at how much like the game they are. Even just a speedpaint or smthn, y'all are doing great work

Great choices of songs to show us how it's done and great presentation. I would of bet money you did these either completely with or with some heavy lifting from AI but wow you just actually have the ability to create these yourself with commonly available audio programs. Very impressive, I'm so glad you found this hobby! What a joy it is to hear songs like Chop Suey recreated in our beloved Old School RuneScape soundfont!

This is an incredible and descriptive explanation! I've been wondering how you go about making these covers. You mentioned that you took some of the drums for Chop Suey straight from the In The Pits midi file. Where are you downloading the midi files for the osrs songs? Are those publicly available somewhere?
@UnpragmaticCovers
3 ай бұрын
Fun story about that! I got my current iMac in 2021 and transferred files over from a decade old laptop. That laptop had files transferred over from a laptop from 2008. So at some point in the last 16 years I had found and downloaded midi files for 500ish RuneScape songs and forgotten about them. Then after making 20 or so songs for this channel, I had to clear space on my computer and couldn't stop smiling when I realized I had those files. It's a really fun butterfly effect, but it also means I don't remember when/where I got them. I'd recommend googling RuneScape MIDI files, they are very small and would be .mid. Sorry I can't be of more help! -Sam
