I saw this movie 26 years ago when I was 15, and it really struck a chord with me. My favorite Wes Anderson film.

I wonder why they stopped writing together? Could it be both respective careers launched around the same time and didn't have time to collaborate on that level? Or Wes became more confident as a writer or wanted to write scripts with other favored writers/directors?

@@averymoore2130i think both of them have been busier as time went on and scheduling conflcits and such may played a part in it.

IMO Wes Anderson perfected his style in this film. Since then he's evolved much more slowly but has become overly focused on letting the visuals dominate everything else. Rushmore and Life Aquatic remain my favorites because the visuals accentuate the characters and story rather than dominate them .
