If you have been laid off, cash out your 401k. these companies rely on 401k cash to prop up their business. When you take it back, they will have to cut back their CEO bonuses and shareholder profits. Although most people do not see the connection, if your company is publicly traded, the 'owner' of the company is everyone that owns stock.. and when you sell your stock (401k) it affects them.

A day in the life of a programmer. This is me in my fancy studio in Manhattan, which I rent for $5k monthly. The guy was real, the $5k was real, and the location was real. But he disappeared suddenly from social media a few months ago.

It is called greed. The reason why the market rewards companies that announce layoffs is because it means more money for the shareholders which is the only thing the companies seemly care about.

Tech companies saying the same jobs can be performed with automation better than hiring people in the long run. Other sectors will follow suit. While earnings and GDP may improve, the wealth gap will widen. WFH phenomenon may backfire on advocates. Un-employment claim numbers will be obfuscated by the trend towards poly-employment & free lancing.
