hum, he is well known in the drummer world, he's a teacher at Berklee Music School (Thomas was just a student) and also in others school in San Francisco and NYC, he played with Marc Ribot, he's the founder of Kudu which is an excelent band... You know people under the light are not always the most talented. Look how people are talking about him since he's in TMV

It seems that Omar got bored quickly after the release of Noctourniquet, i heard that he also seemed fed up playing live on the ATDI reunion tour. It's a shame because i would've loved to hear more Mars Volta albums but Cedric said. We get Bosnian Rainbows instead.

The debate could be how you want TMV to evolve. It's subjectiv of course but I think they are the best in their psychedeledic transcendal parts. And they are so special because they know that psyche rock maybe incredible with some loudness. I love Ouroborous and the rythm changes and love Goliath for the intensity. And on thoses parts Pridgen is no use. A rythm box would have been enough (im exagerating). And Parks could easily do even a better job. And I love that "trinkets" live second part a

@Musicfrommitchell 20/16 and 5/4 are not interchangeable, just like 6/8 and 3/4 are not interchangeable. The difference is where stresses tend to fall. While 5/4 is just what it is, with 5 beats to the bar, 20/16 could have 5 groups of 4 semiquaver beats or 4 of 5, or 2 of 10 even.

I'm just saying music isn't a competition. I will agree that IMO Deantoni has a better gig now with Bosnian Rainbows than with Pridgen and The Memorials. I've met Pridgen before a few times, and I have a lot of respect for both players, never met Deantoni. I'm stoked to see Bosnian Rainbows on Feb 20 in Allston, but it's no substitute for TMV, that's for sure. I would've loved to see TMV with Deantoni, but they never played in my area.
