I met him at a convention a couple of years ago. My Mother had just passed away from Liver Cancer and her biggest wish was to have had met Mr. Phillips. I was able to bring my Dad instead. I discussed with Mr. Phillips about my Mother's passing and how my Father was heartbroken after being married for 54 years. My mother always said Mr. Phillips reminded her of my Father when they first met. The movie La Bamba and the way Mr. Phillips dressed in that movie always reminded her of my Dad. Even I when I was about 22 and young guns 2 had come out many thought I was Mr. Phillips and I introduced Mr. Phillips to my dad and my dad got teary and so Did my Mr. Phillips and they hugged each other. I took a picture of that hug and I honestly felt like my Mother was there, "smiling at them and feeling the love" i then took a picture with them and Mr. Phillips said some kind words to my dad. I will forever be grateful for that day and what a kind, humble, and excellent human being Mr. Lou Diamond Phillips is. "Thank you and I know my mother was happy and Thankful as well by your generosity and for just giving me some of your time for explaining why we were there"

And I had never heard him sing this song live and here he sang it like a true Latino with so much passion and attitude. We Mexican Americans love this guy and always will. Watched them film a scene for "Knight Club" (or something like that) - right down the street from the hostel I was living in - for a few hours, then when they had a pause and he was getting his makeup fixed a bit he asked if I wanted to take a picture (probably got tired of me hovering in the background, hehehe). Quite a firm handshake and very pleasant to speak to. Too bad we couldn't talk more than "hey man wanna take a picture, would LOVE to...what kind of camera is that, a digital one, do you want to see the picture ? Sure...oh, cool, that's cool, I gotta get me one of those...okay, take care now, gotta get back to filming" or pretty much words to that effect...very pleasant and definitely SAVED my holliday
