@@PhilBaumhardtstarted checking out your channel, pretty awesome! My father's side is Scandinavian and I have always been drawn to viking lore and really into metal work. Iwould highly recommended this guy here is a link to his KZitem video of himmaking a viking inspired blacksmith work area ! His name is Rune malte Bertram Neilson, dude is legit!! Also my anvil is a block of mild steel 12x8x4 that I built a stand for our of pressure treated scraps at the lumber yard for free! Cheers! kzitem.info/news/bejne/zI2dq4elm6qml5g

This toolbox and its contents are on display at the History Museum in Stockholm. Their new exhibition about the Viking Age is definitely worth seeing if you visit Stockholm.

Phil Baumhardt if you can specify what exactly you are looking for, I might be able to help. There is a massive amount of literature and databases with finds like these. Mostly unfortunately in Swedish, danish or Norwegian. One place to start can be the history museum in Stockholm. They have a searchable online collections database where most items are listed with images. mis.historiska.se/mis/sok/sok.asp It’s in Swedish but they seem to have a google translate function You can also try the online museum shops of museums specialised in Scandinavian Iron Age. The Gotland Museum might have a few books in English. webshop.gotlandsmuseum.se/en/

…I’m wondering if the original chest had some type of handles, so one man could lift/ carry it… And, what would the full load weigh…?

This book is awesome. I recently forged a hammer roughly like some of them in the book. Made it as traditionally as I can. It’s a little 7oz wrought iron hammer with Steeled faces imgur.com/gallery/k98ey2E
