In the late 19th century, a group of brave women working at the Bryant and May match factory in east London decided to take a stand against poor treatment from their employers. With the help of a woman named Annie Besant, and against all the odds, the Matchgirls won several concessions - and inspired future workers to discover the power to improve working conditions.
