The most unnecessary and unasked for movie ever made. The movie has the look and feel of a low budget Netflix special.

It was done on purpose so Warner brothers didn’t run the franchise into the ground. They wanted to make two or three more and it would have ruined the legacy so Lana trashed this one so they wouldn’t go any further.

the saddest part it is that the first 1/3 of the movie seems very good and a great idea... sunddely the movie starts to crumble apart.

The only thing I probably like more in this movie than in the Original Trilogy are Neo and Trinity, or more specifically the performances by Keanu Reeves and Carrie Ann Moss and their chemistry. I think they just come across as a bit more more likeable and natural here than they did back then. And shoutout to the Score by Tom Tykwer and Johnny Klimek. It doesn't hold a candle to what Don Davis did for the OT, but its *fine*. And I can't fault Jonathan Groff too much as Smith, he did okay... but again, Ian Bliss did much better impersonating Smith in _Revolutions._ Something that's really disappointing is that they didn't delve deeper into the plotpoint of Machines working with Humans. A Machine Civil War with parts of them siding with the Resistance was something I expected to be a big thing in any potential sequel and they barely touched it here.

i told you this was complete garbage. the wachoski sister involved self destructed the franchise since WB told her "we are moving foward with or without you" so she thrashed it. in the process destroyed her career and won a lawsuit for self sabotage.

I guess the director purposely making this movie bad so Warner Bros wouldn't force future movies didn't work, because another movie is already in preproduction... One thing i will say though, I find it hilarious how now that Smith has all these new upgrades, he seems way less bitter.

I know I thought a movie was truly terrible and pointless when I don't even want to hate-rewatch or laugh-rewatch it later. I happened to be in Berlin working on a Netflix series when the news came out that this movie was going to start shooting there, everyone was so hyped. Little did we know....

Resurrection is this for me. I could not care less about the machines invading Zion. So many great ideas in the first one, and we end up with that? "Uninspired" is putting it mildly.

Your reaction is pretty much what the rest of us had about it. It's a movie in the Matrix universe. And yes, the scene about Warner Brothers making a sequel to the trilogy is EXTREMELY meta. It's literally WHY the 4th movie exists :B

And BTW Warner Brothers FORCED THEM to make this horrible sequel. So again as I already commented earlier I absolutely LOVE The entire Matrix Trilogy and I mean ALL THREE Matrix movies. But once again SCREW MATRIX 4!

In general I don’t care for the movie but there were some things I liked about this: - Unlike the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy which reverted to the Rebel Alliance vs Empire status quo (only new names and uniforms), I liked how this showed Neo’s efforts to secure peace in Revolutions wasn’t for naught and there’s now a society of humans and synthetics trying to rebuild the real world. - I might get ripped to pieces for saying this but I actually prefer this film’s depiction of Neo’s life within the Matrix over the first one’s. I just think having him stuck in this life for more screentime that established him caught in a depressing loop with little variation and the Machines working to assuage him everything’s okay/gaslighting him from the truth was a bit more effective this time. - I preferred the build up to Neo and Trinity’s romance, particularly that scene of just them talking in the coffee shop and bonding.

Nice touch having the video-stripey looking overlay for your review. Oh wait, that was just the light coming in through the blinds... Nevertheless, it may have been unintentional but it was fitting. The fight scenes could have been made more kinetic if they'd had the pulse-pounding, loud music of the other ones, instead of the bland, soft samples they probably downloaded off the internet. I also thought the machines vs. the machines would have made a much more interesting story -- the CGI could handle it now, and on a fairly reasonable budget. Who knows -- maybe the next one will be a mid-quel?

very few have heard of Path of Neo or the Matrix Awakens games to see what satirical tone the matrix took on after the first movies. they could never replicate that tone so they went full on silly like the games. "never trust marketing" -Neo : D

I actually didn't like 2 & 3 when they came out, but after watching resurrections, it made me appreciate the others more. The story actually brought up the other 2. The whole idea that they survived and moved on makes the other films seem less pointless to me. Agreed on the fight scenes, but I actually really enjoyed the story a lot. Interesting reaction.

ill say this before i watch your review i actually really liked this movie more then the 2nd or 3rd one cause the relationship is built and the charas talk and even dispite the fact that neo ends up in the real world again for a while there in the movie i was questioning myself as to wether the matrix was real or if Neo really was having a physcotic break or if it was something inbetween i cant wait to see what you think :) happy movies
