I was caught in the Scorpions’ spell with Animal Magnetism- The Zoo, Make It Real, Don’t Make No Promises - and never looked back. Blackout remains my favorite of all Scorps albums. They’ve always had the ability to write hooks and riffs that embed themselves in your mind, attach themselves to memories like the soundtrack to a film. Also, one of the tightest bands I’ve ever seen live (I’ve seen a few). This is the first interview I’ve ever seen with Mathias. What a cool dude. Yep Animal Magnetism is when the beast was released, in my opinion. Then it went up, and had a 'sound'. Uli is great player, but Rudolph is the anchor, Matthias is the icing on top. Blackout blew up the radio in 1982. There was no longer just Rush and Van Halen. The riffs just crystallized in Love at 1st Sting. Bad Boys Running Wild is one of my favorite riffs, my eldest daughter loves it too. It has a vibe Different from UFO Michael. Of course Randy Rhoads was an Asteroid smackdown. .. But something in Matthias just seemed better overall, not just whiz bang leads, rhythms written by he and Rudy were just dare I say, EPIC
