Hey guys! Love your show! I am a former Muslim and Protestant who has come home. I have a show that focuses on the links between the Jerusalem temple and the church, apologetics, etc. I’ve had Jimmy on, as well as Scott Hahn, Matt Fradd, and many others. I was wondering if you guys would like to do an episode together? God bless! Dustin

As a child/teenager I went to my Mamaw’s non-denominational church. So in sunday school, we were taught and explained Revelation through the protestant POV. ONE REQUEST: Can you guys please do a show on the famous “Revelation 12.” What it really means. Who really is “the woman.” Is the vision the beginning of it all, the fall of lucifer? Is it the explanation why he fell? I think a show on that would be interesting.

I hope this clarifies everything. MATTHEW 24:29-31 29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 And then the sign of the Son of Man, will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming upon the clouds of Heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he will send out his angels, with a trumpet blast, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other. At the time of this event, the sky will darken and an illuminated Cross will shine as Jesus will show everyone on earth the true state of their souls aka the Illumination of Conscience/Souls. We will experience 15 minutes of our final destination, if we were to die at that moment: Heaven, Hell, or Purgatory. Then, Jesus will give us 6 and half weeks to be baptized in the Catholic faith and confess our sins to the priest aka the vessel of Jesus in the confessional. Soon after, our guardian angels via a flame will guide us to God's earthly protected refuges, just before the reign of the Anti Christ. Only the faithful dead will rise to Heaven. Rapture means to seize and gather. Revelation 12: 6 6- The WOMAN*** (the faithful, the One Bride of Jesus's One Holy Catholic Church) herself fled into the desert where she had a place prepared by God, that there she might be taken care of for twelve hundred and sixty days (3 and one half years of the Tribulation) The Bible always refers to the desert as a place of refuge. The WOMAN*** adorned with the sun, the moon, and the stars (images taken from Gn 37:9-10) symbolizes God’s people in the Old and the New Testament. The Israel of Old gave birth to the Messiah (Rev 12:5) and then became the new Israel, the Roman Catholic Church, which suffers persecution by the dragon (Rev 12:6, 13-17); cf. Is 50:1; 66:7; Jer 50:12.

@@vpspad880 The woman in 12:1 is Mary, the Ark of the New Covenant that John saw in the last verse of chapter 11. The chapters should not have been split between those two verses! Dr. Marshall explains the rest of the chapter in his podcast. It has layers of meaning - one is Mary's flight to Egypt with the child Jesus, another is the persecution of the Church. Your explanation in light of the prophecies of several seers who speak of refuges, particularly Fr. Michel Rodrigue, is another way to interpret the flight to the desert. Except for this chapter where the desert is clearly a refuge, throughout Sacred Scripture the wilderness is usually a place of struggle with satan, or of punishment, a fearsome place with wild beasts.

Akin’s measured and discipline approach is welcomed especially on such a topic as this. It reminds me a little of the sacrality of pilgrimage sites that may not be historically well founded but have been sanctified by the footfall of devout Christians. The three days of darkness may not be well founded in a particular creditable mystic or saint, but it has been adopted by generations of zealous believers; so maybe it taps into an eschatological intuition of the lay faithful? Three days, after all, is the paschal formula so what if 3 days of darkness implies a time when the paschal mystery (the Mass) is cancelled? Beeswax is the traditional stuff of altar candles so having them at home may imply that the lay faithful must have the devotional spirituality of the Mass (eg the rosary) in their homes while the institutional church wrestles with its present darkness, the proverbial smoke of Satan.

Book of revelation has nothing to do with the Catholic mass, lol. It was written by John, who was an apostle to the Jews (not Gentiles). He wrote to the 7 churches in Asia, who were the stick of Joseph (Ezekiel 37). They were stuck between the two corporate beasts (Rome and Jerusalem). It was God letting them know their tribulation was about to end. They eventually left for their gathering (house of Israel) and did so quietly. So when Peter wrote to five of the churches in the same area, he started off stating they were scattered. They were like a tight spring, ready to go per 2 Thessalonians 2. Peter mentioned he was in Babylon (Peter was not using apocalyptic literature here nor metaphors). Babylon, Iraq and Babylon, Egypt would have entered their minds where Peter was. They would look at their history with Babylon, Iraq, which would have sprung to their minds the time of their captivity. Then with Babylon, Egypt, would have spring to their minds safety. That is all Peter had to say, so they knew exactly where Peter was. The topography of Babylon, Egypt was perfect for their gathering, since the waterways funnels to Babylon, where Peter was. Then Peter would have escorted them to Petra (not Pella, that was a lie written by Eusibius). Shortly after that, Peter would have died. The lawless one (Eleazar, who was the grandson of Judas Iscariot) per 2 Thessalonians 2, was revealed on August 14, AD66. So Peter would have immediately written 1 Peter after that.

Great video. I'd point out that these kinds of prophetic occurrences often have a present (e.g., at the time the prophecy was made/spoken/written) meaning and a future meaning (e.g., not at the time, and at some time later than, the prophecy was made/spoken/written). We all recognize this concerning, for example, Jesus as the fulfillment of OT prophecy. Jimmy makes this point regarding Isaiah here. So, the point I want to make is this: even if this interpretation of Revelation is correct (which it seems to be), that obviously doesn't preclude a secondary meaning/future occurrence of the prophecy. Not disagreeing in any way here, but I did want to point this out as it was brushed shoulders with but never spoken aloud here (at least as far as I recall).

Peter was not "illiterate." This is a myth. All Jewish men of the time, especially the most observant and pious could read because it was incumbent on them to be able to read Torah. Furthermore, Peter was not some poor guy casting a line off a pier hoping to catch tonight's dinner. As was mentioned in another episode of CTS, he and Andrew were business men who owned a fleet and employed others. We also know from the Gospel that Peter owned a house, likely a farm in Capernum. We really need to stop imposing our 20th Century American biases on First Century Middle Easterners.

As testimony to the literacy of Jewish men, I offer my late husband. He was born and raised in the US and had a degree in English. BUT he learned to read Hebrew when he had his Bar Mitzvah. He didn't understand everything but when we immigrated to Israel and learned modern Hebrew, and he actually studied Torah for about 3 years, it was a lot easier for him because he could read. I struggled with the alphabet for years. Now that I'm on my own, I have had to learn and am doing but as they say, Reading is Fundamental and Jews believe that reading is the way to understanding.

The chicken or the egg. The rooster is the pope. The rosary is for war and peace also. The rosary was supposed to take over the Psalms. John’s Gospel is a lot of eyes. Know that you don’t know. It’s poetic justice. Is the only gospel out of the four that has The last supper on Passover. This was a great episode. You are a very intellectual man. Seven is the rays of the light. White is every color and black is no color death. White is purity. Revelation is opinionated. There are really five gospels. Matthew Mark Luke John and that makes Christ the fifth candle. White on Christmas and the resurrection in red and Good Friday amen.I learned a lot from Jimmy. But This episode was high on your own thoughts. The knights Templar was never brought up. The dogma of mother Mary was never brought up. The church of Peter was never brought up. It’s about the Eucharist. At the end of the day that’s the bottom line. It was very interesting though. Without the Marines that we had in our past like kingdom of heaven we wouldn’t have the shroud of today the Spanish head cloth but we have faith anyway. The altar is very important in the church mind body and soul. Faith hope love. 311 that’s a good rock group. Also creed but it was depressing what happened to the guy. at 7 minutes, question: this is after Jesus died and rose, the disciples were so well known at that point how would John not know the elite? Jesus knew the elite as well and John was with him, etc. I don't understand that reasoning at all that it would be a different John. Also, John the disciple was the one Jesus loved. He was the closest and the only at the foot of the cross. It makes more sense that he indeed would be the one God gave special privileges to for these experiences and understandings.

Julius was considered the first Caesar based on the literature at the time, so Nero was the one alive when it was written, not Galba. I believe revelation was written in March of AD66. When there was a light shining inside the temple. This timing was perfect with the beginning of the Jewish war starting in AD66, and the sign in the sky occurring on May 2, AD66. I am surprised to see Jimmy believe it was written in AD68 instead. That doesn’t fit very well. Jimmy mentioned in the video, how technology improved caused people to recede the idea we they were living on the edge of the apocalypse. I disagree with that, back then many of the Christians had a mature biblical worldview unlike today.

I believe that the New Testament was finished before the death of Nero, Peter, and Paul; but after the fire of Rome. John and Revelations are vol. 1&2 like Luke and Acts because the whole olivet discourse is the book of revelation. The gospel of John would have been written immediately after John was sentenced to exile to patmos but before arriving in Patmos; and Revelation was written after arriving in Patmos- it’s human nature. The gospel of john must have been finished before the circumvalation of Jerusalem. And revelation must have been finished before the erection of the second circumvallation of titus. Revelation may have been completed after the death of Peter and Paul bit definitely before the death of Nero. The heads of the beasts started with Julius Caesar

Revelation is not about some terrifying supernatural future. It is about the events of the 1st century AD, from 1AD to 114 AD. It is about what went on in the Vestry House in Qumran & the Cathedral of Ephesus; about Bernice, the crowning of Agrippa II, the Herodian mission to Gentiles, the mission to Ephesus & Jerusalem, the detruction of Jerusalem, the Herodian establishment, plus various other events. Revelation was written in 4 sections, by 4 different people over a period of 114 years. Part A was written by James Niceta (Annas). It was written first & placed 2d. [Rev. 8:6-14:15]. The time period was from 1-50AD. Part B was written by John Aquila (Annas). It was written 2d & placed first. [Rev. 1:1-8:5 ]. The time period was from 44-51 AD. These 2 parts were about the Herodian mission ro Gentiles. Part C was written by Tychicus. [Rev. 14:6-19:21]. The time period was from 54-74 AD. It was about the mission to Ephesus & Jerusalem. Part D was written by another seer named John. [Rev.20:1-22:21]. The time period was 100-114 AD.

I mean, if a book is called "Revelation" it really should reveal something, shouldn't it?

Re when the Apocalypse was written (in Maltese we don't use the name Revelation, we say Apokalissi) I though St Irenaeus had said it was written in the 90s? And since St Irenaeus was writing around a hundred years after the 90s, i guess he'd know... Don't get me wrong, i like the idea it was written in the 60s because the Jerusalem Temple is featured so prominently, but I dunno...

Check out Dr. Taylor Marshall's in-depth podcasts on the Apocalypse - one episode per chapter. I learned so much more from him! His view is that John the Apostle may have had the vision prior to the fall of Jerusalem in AD 70, but didn't write it down or share it til the 90's.

Everything in Revelation was fulfilled by the year A.D. 70. Nothing future remains as far as prophecy is concerned.
