He’s delivering 38FG% 22% 3p% and 64% FT% and negative 4 plus minus since he’s moved to the bench. Such stats could hardly make the G league, let alone a playoff contender like the clippers. If you are a Russ fan, you should worry about for how long with the clippers live with this big liability. He will likely be moved or waived before the trade deadline.

I’m not disagreeing with this. The stats he has now is not up to his standards and it’s really sad to see… It’s clear to me the harden trade affected the way he can control the game because the bench role just isn’t suited for him. But I don’t think he’s a as big a liability as you think he is. Yes, they are kind of phasing him out and Russ leaving the team is not out of the realm of possibility, but I still have a slight hope they’ll figure it out. (8-3 in there last 11 games even with Russ’s bad shooting numbers) They should prioritize Russ playing with Kawhi and PG like they did before while harden is resting on the bench. (If you want me to be honest I think Russ should start and harden should off the bench) The thing about Russ also is that he can affect games even with not having good shooting numbers… doing other things or even doing the dirty work that doesn’t show up on the stat sheet. They actually have a stretch coming up where we can see how they will actually do. Until they’re done with that I’ll hold off on all that Russ leaving stuff for right now.

@@kjftsipyou could dream whatever you want to dream despite the glaringly ugly G League stats he has been delivering since he’s been demoted to the bench. Sadly the lakers and clippers management disagree with you. They believe (and rightly so) the best help Russ can make is play less and shoot less. His so-called “qualities” (energy, play hard, dirty work) just can’t offset his damages on poor shooting and passing decisions. The NEGATIVE 4 plus minus over the past 11 games pretty much sums up the FACT that he’s doing more bad than good to the team. TBH, had it not been the PR fiasco created, any players at 35 delivering these pathetic stats would have been waived long ago. And the fact the clippers haven’t done that so far is more of a PR restoration issue, rather than because of Russ’ “invisible” positives which only his blind faith fans can see. And his recent PR disaster with the fan in the nuggets game further prove that it’s not worth the hassle to retain this childish crybaby. So it’s just a matter of time, not a matter of if. And if he can only play when harden is rested as you’ve suggested, 15-20 min will be the max time he’ll have. He is, and will continue to be a backup PG for a playoff contender. Just before you say Russ will miraculously turn around his career with other contenders like the Heat, I’m sorry to tell you that it ain’t happening. The reason is that teams like Miami has much weaker 3 pt shooting (Butler, Bam, love are avg or weak outside shooters) than the clippers, meaning that Russ’ utmost shortcomings will be magnified as in the case for his lakers days. All these are pointing to his “voluntary” retirement, as we were told for his “voluntary” move to the bench, the latest by the end of this season.

show me kyle lowry stats and hes making 35 million, like stop with the bullshit. He's the 7th or 8th man in the rotation in minutes, show me his offensive rebounds , show me that he's leading the league in double doubles off the bench.

@@809Mornelleyou are SPOT on. Just a month ago blind faith Russ fans were telling us he should start ahead of Harden and should get more minutes. Fast forward to today the clippers are winning with him buried on the bench for a meagre 20 mins per game, while at the same time delivering pathetic G-league player stats as I’ve mentioned earlier. But I totally agree with you that at this juncture, Russ can only compete in the league on “value”, AKA salary per point scores or assist made. And he has better “value” because he is on a more team friendly contract than Kyle Lowry. In this respect, I’ll agree with you that he’s a bargain cheap player. But How sad it is for a FORMER MVP to be looked at from this angle. 😂. You even say he’s the 7th and 8th man (not even the 6th man) for the clippers, which is very true because Norman Powell played more minutes than him over the past 13 games. As for leading bench players on double double, what’s the point of leading this stats when you are delivering a NEGATIVE plus minus for his 13 games on the bench? Yes. The clippers were 10-3 during this span and yet cheap labour Russ still managed to deliver a pathetic negative 2.4 plus minus. That means for all the “good” rebound he get, he threw up bricks on the other end of the court. You even have to try very hard to do that. The moral of the story is, he is a thing of a past and is complete dispensable. and you’re just going to see things going even uglier along the way: more pathetic stats, more DNP - CD. 7th man cheap labour Russ. There you have it.

@@boriskan6453clippers are winning not because of benching Russ but because they acquired Daniel theis another big man and defender and it balanced the roster more because before that they didn’t have no reliable big man and defenders after trading away Covington and Batum for harden. Russ stats have been bad since harden trade his stats before were way better. Russ volunteered the bench role don’t make it seem like they wanted to bench him. People can still make the argument that harden needs to be benched because him slowing the game down is detrimental for this clippers team. Clippers were on a similar winstreak before the harden trade. In fact I think they only got harden not to replace russ but because they know PG and kawhi won’t stay healthy so it’s more like insurance. PG literally just got another injury. You right Russ is a thing of the past but he not no g league player that lakers stint was not his fault I can go on so many details how the lakers management failed him and set him up for failure to appease lebron who is not willing to not sacrifice for his teammates but that’s another story.
