Hey Jon, here’s some deleted marvel content you may not know of: Originally, the world serpent was supposed to be in Avengers: Infinity War. It was going to bite Thor, and the poison would start to slowly kill him, so they were going to add a time limit to how long Thor had to get revenge on Thanos

Interesting that, in the Hind mythos, the World Serpent, Sheshnag, is a good guy: the one who guards Lord Vishnu when He sleeps, and will also sometimes incarnate alongside his Lord, such as in the case of Lord Krishna and His older brother, Balarama, the later of whom is largely thought to be Sheshnag's incarnation.

I love how the story of Sky themed God (Thunder, Lightning, Sun, etc) fighting giant serpent themed monster in many cultures show us how human spread a story then make it different by combining it with their own culture, like: 1. Ancient Greece have Zeus (Lightning) vs Typhon and Apollo (Sun) vs Python. 2. Ancient Babylon have Marduk (Storm) vs Tiamat. 3. Ancient Egypt has Ra (Sun) vs Apep (Apophis). 4. Norse have Thor (Thunder) vs Jormungandr. 5. Hindu have Indra (Thunder) vs Vritra. 6. Japanese have Susanoo (Storm) vs Yamata-no-Orochi. 7. Christianity has God vs Leviathan.

So the Aesir knew that Loki's children going to cause trouble if left on their own device. They did pretty good job providing Hel with a job and showering fenrir with love, albeit didnt successful and forced fenrir to be bound by a ribbon, but Jorgumandr was casted away the moment odin saw it. Isnt odin basically left Jorgumandr on their own device? The very things the Aesir want to avoid? Now this is really confusing, no wonder Jorgumandr became mad, the aesir throw Jorgumandr away when they was a little serpent. That would be traumatizing for Jorgumandr.

SPOILERS FOR GOD OF WAR: RAGNOROK... Came back after beating Ragnorok, and it's not explicitly stated but it's heavily implied that Atreus "birthed" Jörmungandr by putting the soul of a giant into a snake causing it to keep growing. It's a pretty clever way to incorporate the mythos of him being Atreus' (Loki's) son into the games. They did the same with Fenrir after putting his soul into Garm the Hel wolf, one of my personal favorite moments from the game. This series is truly a masterpiece of storytelling and world building!

According to The Last Days of the Justice Society of America, Alan Scott Green Lantern (The Original not the Post-Rebirth one) in 1986 was merged with Thor when AH tried to use the Spear of Destiny to bring Ragnorok to Earth back in 1945 at the End of the War. Using the power and form of Thor, Alan killed Jorgmangander (can't spell), but the snake got the last laugh by hitting Alan with a mist that killed him. But the powers of Doctor Fate and Spectre brought him and the other fallen Justice Society members to kill Surtur the Fire Giant and prevent Ragnorok from happening.

I love the game of "Pick up the Cat"! My favourite telling of Loki and Thor's adventure is in "The Gospel of Loki" by Joanne Harris. It's Norse mythology all told from Loki's perspective. The story of Thor and Tyr's fishing trip reminds me of several Old Irish stories, Esnada Tige Buchet in particular, which is all about being eaten out of house and home by bad guests! Also reminds me of Mesca Ulad, which is essentially Cuchulainn and the Ulster "heroes" on a pub crawl all over Ireland. Thor and Cuchulainn have a lot in common!

In regards to the God of War bit, there is that part near the end where, SPOILERS, it’s revealed that Atreus’s mom wanted to name him Loki, the part where Kratos and Atreus are looking at the wall mural that shows their journey throughout the game. And Atreus doesn’t seem to recognize the name, despite being so knowledgeable about the creatures and gods they meet on their journey. So, I think they will reference it by somehow the characters (or, at least, Atreus) are sent back in time at some point, were Atreus uses the name his mom wanted to give him as his godly name or something.
