It's a good thing more people are talking about this game, it does look like one of the coolest Meterodvania released this year. But unfortunately I'll got a couple of reasons why no one bothers to play it and it's because... -Ubisoft's reputation as a corporate company -The Community lost their faith to them thanks to their anti consumer responses and practices. Like telling them to get used to not owning games and stuff. -Releasing and Making this game exclusive on a platform nobody cares about instead of releasing this on steam. -Games like Infinite Wealth, Palworld, Tekken 8, Persona 3 Reload etc took everyone attention. -It's priced as if it's a high budget AAA game which it's not ,Like if you compare this to other Metroidvania Masterpieces like Hollow Knight, Blasphemous, Ori and the Blind Forest which funny enough, you can actually buy all of them for the price of this single game and get better millage out of them all, which really says something. So...Yeah,Not the game's fault or anything. Blame the higher ups from Ubisoft for being ya know ?...Themselves. Believe me,If this were an actual Indie game, sold on Steam at under a 40$ price tag, This would have gotten a lot of positive reception and attention.

@thebit69
7 ай бұрын
What I was speaking too in that section was primarily how the fans have been feeling burned by Ubisoft by not getting a 3rd person single player action rpg type game like sands of time or something along those lines. Fans have been begging for it for a while from my understanding. And understand why their perceive a “2-d side scroller” falling short in that regard as also the story isn’t super good. But other than that as a stand alone title I think it’s fantastic. It’s just went you call it a “prince of Persia game” I see why they’re annoyed. If would be like if they made a resident evil game a battle royale with cartoony graphics. It’s just not the same.
@ronniefazzio6979
7 ай бұрын
@@thebit69 I appreciate the response and I can understand that reaction. Though Prince of Persia originally started as a 2D game so the Lost Crown is a nice little return to its roots. I personally liked the story for what it was and reading all the lore items in the game definitely helped even if there are some details that I wish got more focus. The big one being the implication that Sargon is the third son of the Queen and was swapped at birth with the one that gets kidnapped, which does in fact make him a Prince. It also helps add another layer to the narrative by having the child make up for the mistakes of the parent. This game is over all a very good surprise to hold fans over while the Sands of Time remake is being worked on by a different team at Ubisoft. The example you gave remindeds me of how furious Metroid fans got when Nintendo announced Federation Force after the series had been dormant. However, Nintendo later announced Metroid Prime 4, Samus Returns, and we got Metroid Dread a few years ago. The Lost Crown is an Amazing game so it all worked out in the end. I don’t think we’ve seen the end of the POP franchise.

I can't entirely recommend it for PS5 because there are some annoying glitches with appearing outside the map (and dying). The actions aren’t married well with the controller. The fighting is, but the platforming not at all. Story is great. Music excellent. But the final boss fight is even more glitched. If the boss pushes you into the glass barriers (borders), your character will be forced through them. You will then just have to jump off the edge of the map to reset. As soon as you do, if the final boss had a speck of health, he now has a full health bar. You also aren't compensated with getting your health potions back. This horrible bug made the final boss fight last longer than it should have. He has many attacks that could force you against these walls or you could go close to them to evade his attacks. He will then push you through them or if a cinematic happens, such as when he uses a parry-able move, that cinematic will force your character through the border. I like that there is platform assist for players who just want to play the story and not spend half an hour on complicated platforming strategies. I also like how it doesn’t punish you or make the game difficult to complete if you didn’t get every collectable in the game. But yes, those glitches I mentioned and how the controls weren’t all the great for platforming was what killed the game for me. When I beat it, this was one and done. Never bothering with it again. I am a PoP fan too. I've played every single one of them. I can't say I like how they went away from tradition. I know this was a tribute to the Atari version, but I really liked the old school PS versions. Except PoP2 lol. That one was not that great. But I used to play them multiple times because the story and game play was great. This one. Nope.

Metroidvania as a genre is not mainstream enough. It's weird they decided to give POP a shot after such a break by putting the franchise into one of the genres most people won't be interested in. Price is also a bit too high, it has the content, yes, but most metroidvania games are priced at $30. Here comes Ubisoft with $50. I personally really like the game, but longer I play the more I see that it isn't polished enough. I'm getting stuck in slide animation during the fight, running animation during fight transitions, swords glued to my face during mid-fight cutscenes, hit by projectiles despite me being clearly above them (recorded footage to check it even more and it happens a lot, and the last one but the worst offense - During the Kiana fight, after the fight transitioned to her world, I got hit by air, which automatically took out One of Four health bars, and completely ruined the flow of the fight - so I died. It's not a polished game. It's still unfortunately, as much as I may like it, is a Ubisoft game.

You nailed it in the first few seconds of the video. Did not think for one second this game would be good. But it is incredible I love it not a single flaw in this game to me. Boss fights are top teir some of the best boss fights ive played in a game. It will be hard to top this as my number 1 game played this year (my opinion dont care if anyone agrees) love it.

It's mainly the high price and the fact that it's 2-2.5d. As well as not being on steam. Original before release, there was a good amount of ppl complaining it wasn't a 3d prince of Persia like warrior within. But that didn't have a big effect in my opinion. Nowadays, ppl expect big AAA studios to make huge open world games that last 40 plus hours. They've gotten used to those types of games and seeing a game that is 2d but a lot of ppl off. Another thing, prince of Persia is more known by us older gamers. Most ppl 20 and under won't understand the hype. It's a niche game to them. I believe if it was 39.99, sold on steam as well, it would've had more success. I still think they made a good profit. The cost to make this game was probably a lot cheaper than ppl think.

BTW day-one mainly because Ubisoft should note that these kind of games are great and move away from the generic ACs.

My one gripe w this game after like 15 hours and getting to snake in the sand pit. THE TAUNTING OF THE DOUBLE JUMP IS PEDANTIC AS HELL! Either gate things a little differently or just don’t gate as much. Playing 15 hours of a game with out a double jump is infuriating when there’s a million ledges you walk by that you know require a double jump. I got so annoyed by it I went to a walkthrough to look up when the hell you actually get it. It feels like this games gravity suit. Be like Echoes. Give the light suit a bit early and build around it. I know I’m going to hate back tracking through this game later on because there’s so much of the game I’ve seen already that I couldn’t get to because of the dbl jump and the fast travel system is not an excuse for unintuitive gating. And my one other gripe, some of the puzzles in this game are pedantic as hell too. Looking at you time trial ghost puzzles.

Rewarded myself after seeing a few reviews. COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN!!!! There is nothing negative I have to say about this game (besides how punishingly difficult the bosses are). I know it feels like tons of people are playing a game when we talk ab it with our friends, and our algorithms cater to it. But it really is just a drop in the bucket, unfortunately. I love this game. I am one impossible climb(IYKYK) and one final boss from getting 100% on the game. However, I don't think it's a coincidence that fans are saying this doesn't feel like a PoP game, Ubisoft already has Immortals: Fenyx Rising and every other word at the start of the game is Immortals. It's an Immortals Metroidvania reskinned with the marketability of PoP. Unfortunately, Ubisoft squandered that marketability with some lackluster PoP games in recent years and offended gamers in general with the infamous "shouldn't get comfortable with the idea of owning games," comment.

Best (Modern) Metroidvanias: 1. Hollow Knight 2. Ori and the Will of the Wisps 3. PoP the Lost Crown 4. Metroid Dread Yes, it is that good. I am a huge Metroid fan, finished and completed all of them 2D and 3D on any platform. It pushes for that number 2 slot as well. I think Ori is the better game in terms of the emotions it awakes within you by simply playing a video game. It is just brilliant.

What do you mean "no one"?! I know a shitload of people who are playing this game right now. I personally finished it, and i have to say, it's really quite good. I would place it pretty high, score wise, at least 90/100. The time powers and new abilities are interesting and nice, the necklace system allows for different builds for different playstyles, the bosses are very varied, unique and fun to fight against, there are i think 13 different biomes in the game, which makes for a lot of variety, the enemy types are very numerous too.... It's quite long, the story is more than serviceable (although the ending is lacking in my opinion). The combo system, including juggles, is very well made and allows for excellent fighting. With every new ability learned, there's an NPC that teaches you how to implement them into new combos to make them even deadlier. It's really neat! On top of that, there are those exlusive moves that the main character can do by parrying certain attacks, which triggers a mini cinematic with a fighting move that is very reminincent of Dragon Ball Z in terms of over the top combat techniques... it also includes a Kamehameha of sorts, very VERY over the top, but so good to watch! (in the Cell saga, the final Kamehameha from Gohan that killed Cell, it looks very much like that) The graphics and art style are not revolutionary or anything, but they're quite good and pleasing to the eye. The sound and musics are very nice too. Also, when it comes to platforming, i have to mention the espcially hard to navigate and ultra challenging portions of the game that remind me so much of the "Path of Pain" or the "White Palace" from Hollow Knight... Probably not quite as hard, but definitely challenging. Bottom line, again it's a great game, and i love the fact that Ubisoft Montpellier actually had the balls to switch from a platforming adventure genre to a metroidvania / soulsvania genre. In my opinion, it was a great decision on their part, and it's an absolute win for me. By the way, i live literally 200km away from Montpellier where they made the game, in Marseille South France, so i'm really quite proud of that team. They did an excellent job!

How many is a "shitload?" 5 people? 10 people? I hate to break it to you but that is no one. The game barely has 300k players. I don't know what the European market is, but here in the US there are at least 200 Million gamers to convince to buy your game and they barely passed a 1/4 of a million. Unfortunately that just isn't great numbers. That doesn't take away from the game being great, but unfortunately those two metrics don't always correlate. A lot of people are conflating what they see online in their timelines with what they believe reality to be. That's just not the case. The truth is, many people are missing out on one of the best Metroivanias ever made. Is it due to poor marketing, not living up to the Prince of Persia legacy, or Ubisoft sucking as a corporation? It's likely a combination of many factors - but we will never know the exact reason or combination of reasons. I had so much fun with the game and I was bummed it was over. I am hoping that people start to see its potential and buy it eventually. But for now... it's not meeting expectations by the developers themselves.
