Hello awesome builds my friend, reminds me of a youtube friend name: GrandadIsAnOldMan, he does remarkable builds such as yours...thanks for sharing !!!

Thanks mate. Still need to see if she flies though!

Ok basically started the same project I stupidly added 3 carbon tubes and I'm still struggling with wiring

Best of luck, it's fun anyway. Apart from my 1st big Lidl glider build I haven't added any carbon since then. Like to keep it light.

Yep, Bob. I'm starting to see the advantages of using the rubber band prop system - especially on these little motors with 1.5 or 2mm shafts. No bent shafts, no extra force ripping the motor mount off and the orange props are cheap enough when you buy them by the fistful! 😉😊

Indeed, best way for these little builds. I've bent shafts too!

It was me that posted on the Facebook lidl page, the one I have is only 9 1/2 " (24 cm) wing span so a bit smaller than the one you are doing. Mine will probably be a glider if I do have a go at it

Thanks. Yes, I mistakenly thought the one in the pic was the slightly bigger one. I've built two mini's that have the same kind of blue foam. A glider? That would work. It'd be a good challenge! I've corrected my size error in the video description.

They said it couldn't be done ... well done, a brilliant auw as well. I've got a video coming up soon Bob where I have a similar prop 'accident' 😅

Yes, was amazed at the light weight. And with luck it'll fly! re the prop, I'm always wary of those push on props! Hold it away from you. 🤔

PS Look forward to seeing your prop accident!

Waiting for the right propeller at the moment, but then as soon as I get an opportunity. It's blowing a gale here today though anyway! 😫

G'day Bob, love your work with the Lidl gliders there mate. I've been using those vape cells in my own projects for many years too and with all due respect sir, I feel I need to correct you at 9:46, where you indicated they were NimH (Nickel metal Hydride) chemistry, when they are in fact Lithium ion, with the potential to burn your house down when charged incorrectly.

Oh dear, you are absolutely correct though. I knew they weren't LiPo, and have corrected that before, but brain fade, not NiMh, indeed Lithium Ion. You can charge with a Lipo charger though as far as I'm aware?
@jamesellis5445

@@bobflymanyes you're correct, they will top charge to 4.2V safely and a discharge down to 3V is tolerable as long as you don't push them with a high C rate of discharge. As you know, at 10C a 500mAh cell will deliver 5A of current.

Yup. They are ok for small brushless motors.

@@bobflymanyes mate they are good for many RC and electronic projects. Parallel single cell use increases C rating substantially, I've made 3S3P packs that comfortably handle 12V circuits at up to 20A for an hour..... They're getting harder to get here now though, with all the new anti Vape laws here in OZ.

Haven't seen many here lately either. It is a terrible waste of a useful resource. 😒
