"if only I hadn't thrown it away in the years between" is spot on. I got rid of my 386sx33 and P133 Colani tower... Oops.

Great video! My brother had a Colani Am486DX40 with the warped keyboard and wrist pad - back then it was a beast of a system. I later got the InduS P60 in February 1995 where OS2 was pre-installed and Borland's C++ was part of the accompanying software bundle. PCs in the later 90ies could not match the style nor feel of these older machines.

The laptop machine pictured in the 1993 advertisement you show was actually manufactured by the American company, CMS in 1991. I have that machine and it's currently being restored. CMS sold this model to at least two other companies and they were rebranded. The reason that machine is listed for 1599 Deutschmarks instead of a higher price is because by 1993 it was already two years old and had a 386SX CPU instead of a more modern 486 CPU.

You mean the one at 7:15? I made a video about this one, see kzitem.info/news/bejne/mpCrzJ-krWV3qoY That‘s a Chaplet Systems (today: Toshiba) Halikan NBA386. Chaplet was a taiwanese original design manufacturer. It may be possible the design originated from that CMS company you mentioned. Or CMS, like VOBIS (HIGHSCREEN) just took the NBA386 and rebranded it.

@Adam Mace As I said in the video: Sone mistakes cannot be undone ;-) What machine was it then?

@@THEPHINTAGECOLLECTOR it was a lovely Packard Bell executive tower, looked amazing at the time and quite rare now although I do see the odd one on eBay sometimes. Pentium 200 (not MMX) was top spec when we got it but crippled by the S3 onboard graphics! So not much use for gaming. I've still got the CPU so not all is lost 😄
