You can also use any Mustang 4.6 DOHC cooling mod like MMRs that goes in the back of the heads. If you use the Freeze plug from the top passage you can also return that to the top hose of the radiator hose. The left side head is the one with the real problem getting flow to the back of the head. Number 7 & 8 see the most heat, it also helps to run a 170-degree thermostat also the fan will run a lot less.

@@tcm2kd5000 Thanks. Id rather not pull the trans or engine. If the top of the head mod will stop cylinder 7 and 8 from excessive heat buildup, thats probably the route im going to take. Just picked up an 03 Marauder and would like to make it as right as I can.

@lencac did you have to trim the intake manifold in the rear to keep it from hitting the new fittings? Some have said this is necessary. Also did you end up plugging that line between the heater core and the COT or just leaving it alone? I've heard of this being done both ways. Thank you.
@lencac7952
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Buley: Yes, the right rear corner needs to be "trimmed" so it doesn't interfere with the fitting. But it's easy and to do. Only takes a couple minutes to do that. And I have seen folks say there is a couple different ways to route the plumbing. In my case after I got the two freeze plug fittings installed and T-off to the outlet side of the heater core and then plugging the line past the tee that goes back to the radiator. So as a result in the heat of last summer here in Oregon with 100+ degree days watching the scanner it would run between 197 and 203 degrees seemingly no matter how hard I drove it. Plus the temp gauge in the car never went up like it did before the modification. And I did put a 180 degree stat in it also. Thanks for the question and for watching.

@@lencac7952 did you have to drain the coolant prior to doing this or can I leave it alone?
@lencac7952
2 жыл бұрын
@@buleyauto Yeah, you'll need to drain it down at least at far as the freeze plugs in the heads. They are the same as the two ports for the outlet to the radiator. There's a drain cock on the bottom of radiator. I was doing a t-stat to so I just pulled the lower radiator hose. Can be a bit messier if you don't got a good drain pan. But I think filling it from being empty is less prone to have air-pockets, if you fill it slowly at the plug on the crossover tube.

Firestone has had my car for a fourth time for overheating and says they don’t make that upper hose anymore but isn’t it just the same engine as a mustang or an ltd? Wouldn’t that hose work? Please help me
@lencac7952
Жыл бұрын
Hi Marie: Not sure which upper hose you are referring to. However, the engine in a Marauder is the same engine as in a Mach 1 of that year, not the same as the LTD or non-Mach1 Mustang. The engine in the Marauder is the 4.6L 32 valve DOHC. So what do they say is causing the overheating?

@@MarauderMarie Of course I'm assuming you have a Marauder. How many miles on it? What do you mean by "squeechy"? Is the engine overheating because it's losing coolant? New hoses don't lose pressure unless they are installed improperly or damaged. When you say "drip out" where exactly is that dripping out coming from? So from your description not sure what you mean by what they tell you. In my video my Marauder wasn't overheating during normal use. Only when I would run the engine hard would it get hot. And that being as a result of lack of cooling to the back of the heads. Hence the cooling system modification.

@@lencac7952 thank you taking the time to help me figure out what the heck he’s talking about but he said and showed me the hose would run fine but then became squishy and the leak from my driveway when I got under it was coming from the passenger side and was definitely antifreeze. They were elderly and I am a stay at home mom for my disabled son so I drive it to the grocery store when I have coverage which is rare..have them delivered most of the time but the rear tail passenger light stopped working along with my directional above the headliner quit working too along with having a sticky window regulator..they say take it to a dealership since they don’t do electrical but it was fine before.
