I feel like Reason is a maze that has tried to cater for both hardware people and complete novice music producers. I think it makes Reason very overwhelming for people without an engineering or hardware background, but then again it gives them an appreciation of how sounds are made electronically and how to mix.

5:05 That is the default routing scheme in Thor but if you flip the rack it shows on the back how to get stereo via the matrix and routing. The matrix in Thor has an incredible amount of flexibility for pass through audio, if you notice a lot of the mixing/mastering combis have Thor as a routing matrix.

Nice! Any none Reason users who are interested in Thor should take a look at the Odin II VST. It's a free (open source) great sounding synth that was heavily inspired by Thor and shares the same architecture.

A REQUEST FOR THE LEARNED DJ. Can u do a tutorial on the bassline for I Feel Love Donna Summer. I've been working on it for a 3 wks. But I just can seem to get it quite right with the stock plugins. I think this can be a great reaching moment for a great piece of music. I.m trying Thor and the basline app.

hello DjQuasar, thanks for the video. Got a question. Why do some VST effects not connect to the Master Section? Does it depend when I do it? Talking about stuff like Youlean Loudness meter or a mono switch. Tho I did get them to work sometimes, just dunno why? Enlighten me
@itsdjQuasar
Ай бұрын
Hmmm... the default behavior is for the master effects to be bypassed (unless you made a template that changes this) could that be why?

Great take Thor--which while clever and interesting, never sounded particularly good. Compare with Sylenth1, which is amazing

I thought the same during that era, for sure. That’s why I never got to really know it (Thor). I don’t feel quite the same now. Now that I know how to make Thor sing. Sylenth was definitely an era, tho. Thanks for watching.

@@itsdjQuasar The thinking at the time was to put 3 in a combinator! Maybe today with saturation and chorus? Check for exode presets!

I wish I could have fallen in love with the Thor Synth but after aquiring the Roland, Korg and Arturia synths I can't find much solice in using these anymore, besides, Reason has sold out in my opinion, they just aren't catering for the needs of the musician anymore, I use Cubase with the mentioned plugins, which I find much more exciting.

Hell yeah another Quasar vid thank u sir. Can u do a video on when delay compensation becomes important? I don’t know how to use the mixer’s delay comp button and I’d like to know more about that free RE called the VMG01 Sample Delay I have it but don’t know how to use it
@itsdjQuasar
Жыл бұрын
That is so funny. One of my Patrons requested that I look into that. I will be. I mention it at the end of the video. :) Not familiar with that RE but I'll add it to the delay comp research.
@MrMarcLaflamme

I'm fairly certain the VMG01 was acquired by RS and incorporated in the mixer channels (on the back). Reason however is also pretty good at ensuring you don't need to do much manual work for delay comp.

You really never need to worry about it unless you are doing some funny routing.
