To be fair an air strike in our world also cost more then an annual salary of an average person on earth

Forget "more than an annual salary." Modern airstrikes cost around three times more. Starting with just the jet fuel to keep an aircraft in the air (known information!) we can look at the F/A-18 Super Hornet. Just by actively flying that thing around for about an hour, the DoD estimates it costs nearly $14k. But we're not using an F/A-18; let's assume instead that command spares no expenses when it comes to a Helldiver's ship. For a modern day equivalent, we're probably using something like the F-22, or the F-35, both of which *can* take the attack craft capability. Even then, this is a bad approximation -- each of them can carry only up to around ten munitions before needing to be rearmed. Eagles are far more advanced, since they can actually go from air to space, *and* they can carry much more -- the Eagle Airstrike is 6 distinct explosions, and we can carry 2, plus all the other Eagle equipment, which far overcaps our F-35... But let's go back to the Eagle Airstrike. If you look carefully, it's 6 explosions, so 6 bombs. And while it's an "unguided" airstrike to us, it's actually quite a tight spread of bombs, so there's probably some very basic guidance on those bombs. Given that the Eagle can't approach in areas with anti-air, and that "glide bombs" have a very good range and are built to skim bombs into annoying locations, we're probably instead looking at a GBU-38 JDAM, which for all intents and purposes, is a 241kg bomb. JDAMs come in the form of a Mk 82 Bomb, which costs $4k, and then the JDAM conversion kit, which at its cheapest, is $21k. So, a single GBU-38 costs roughly $25k. That's the more economical option too, as a single "glide bomb" easily sets you back $100k or more. We drop six of these. Per Eagle strike. A single airstrike costs $150k. The average, modern day American makes $54k a year. So, if it's more than an annual salary, as in "slightly more," all things considered, an Eagle Airstrike is...all things considered, pretty cheap.

@@META_mahn judging by the fact that its a ground attacker and not an air supremacy fighter and its got a very rugged and ugly design centered around a big rotary cannon I am going to say its closer equivalent is to something like the A-10. in fact looking at all the things the Eagle does in helldivers 2 I am pretty sure it is a reference to the A-10 which costs around 22.5k per hour of flight which is in maintenance as jet fuel is a little cheaper than diesel but planes used hundreds of gallons of it in a few hours. as for accurate bomb spread the eagle comes in from an extremely low altitude for the strike before then climbing back up to orbit and its dropping those bombs from only a few hundred feet overhead which is easily done with a simple targeting computer and dumb bombs.

And from what I noticed after you get picked up from extraction with your team and everyone leaves the ship you can see a notification that members have returned to civilian life and when you return notice how your user comes out of cryo. Full truth is more "grim" (or not, it depends on your point of view), actually. To support such big military, the economy of the nation of Super Earth should be fully nationalized and be consisted mostly by the military, military supplyers and military contractors. I believe the military spendings should be from 80% to 90% of the yearly federal budget. So everyone and anything on Super Earth depends on managed democracy, paternalism and federal spendings. So, bad thing is the everyone on Super Earth lives deep in lies, ignorance, propaganda and hypocrisy. The more I play the more I think Helldivers aren't common humans, I think their all clones. They are frozen in stasis, they never remove their helmets and they all are one of some variant of voice and body. When you think about it this makes sense, because how can you entrust anyone but the best with all this equipment? Because they are the best, super earths best strategy was to deep freeze the best and produce them on a galactic scale! Each of them so perfectly tuned they will never question anything, they cant be corrupted, cant be swayed, never disobey. And so super earth puts its trust in the endless masses of helldivers, warriors with the best skill at arms and fearless ability. Nothing shakes them, nothing breaks them! And as far as the citizens are concerned these helldivers are among the greatest of the military a beacon they should strive for. I mean its either that or super earth has a particular reproduction program that generates these masses.
