See More below. In this short video clip I share some insights on my experiences as an airbrush artist over the years. It`s been a long while but it does come back after awhile when you begin to practice again.
Music Clip is from KZitem audio Library: "Lone Wolf" by Dan Lebowitz
I use a very old dual action Airbrush (Omni 5000) predominantly with Tamiya Acrylic Paint thinned with 99% Isopropyl Alcohol. I also apply oil washes and pure pigments to pic out details at the end. I generally avoid "flat coating" my models since Tamiya is inherently flat primer anyway unless I choose to decal over top. Then I lay down a clear coat, decal, then flat coat.
Important note: Don`t be afraid to mix different paint media. For example, you can lay water based washes (or oil based) over top of Tamiya (Acrylic) without lifting the underlying layer. The trouble begins when you lay acrylic over uncured oils . . . but then, one might desire this for random textures and peeling paint effect. Cheers.
