This style bicycle ("crate") is really more for style than function, so it's not really for commuting where you have to go any real distance, up hills or over obstacles. This makes it even less good as an even-heavier ebike. Crate ebikes are really to be used as leisure scooters (on flat ground). There are much better bicycles and ebikes for commuting (or speed). This is for fun - quick scoots around.

As somebody who got into building and riding e bikes this year I gotta say I enjoyed this review. One thing to note, you had some issue pulling out of stops when running in Class 3 mode (pedaling required), this can be due to a setting (or two) that sets how much the pedal must be turned before the motor engages, and at what power level the motor will start engagement. On my builds I like 2-4 complete turns before the motor engages as these were origninally built as bicycles. On that machine I'd suggest turning that value down to 1. Anyway thanks for the review.

If you go to a regular bike style and not the Moped motorcycle looking e bikes .. Most have good pedal ability. 7-9 gears and weigh a bit less.. I can pedal my fat tire 26x4 e bike 10-12 mph about 5 miles no problem without battery. Weighs 74 lbs with rack and fenders.. My e bike is faster than a super 73 but 25 miles throttle only at over 34 mph and 75 miles going about 12 mph pedaling to help in low assisted mode.

My S1 jumps like an electrocuted jackrabbit from a stop. All I have to do is touch the pedal and it's off, and I've gotten it up to 40mph on flat ground.

We should also note for those outside France that anything 2 wheeled and motorised that can go over 25km/h is required to be registered, plated and we have to have the scooter license... From France, between Cannes and St Tropez.

FWIW on a regular pedal bike, 30 MPH is pretty common. When I was commuting 20 miles a day on a bike, my average speed was about 18 MPH, which put me at 30 MPH daily on downhills. I would NOT ride without gloves and a helmet but other than that it was poly (wicking) T shirts and baggy shorts (not a spandex fan). Yes I did my share of pavement kissing, and yeah there were times when I was riding post-crash dripping blood on the frame. I honestly was more concerned about having gloves than a helmet, I crashed a few times without them and spending a month with raw meat on the heel of your thumb and the fingers cut up is enough to make you wear gloves forever.

More and more of this sort of thing showing up in my neighborhood, mostly slow street riding for "exercise." Nobody wears any gear beyond the occasional bike helmet. I imagine most of these will be offered in garage sales in 2-3 years.

@@Crosshatch1212 Here in Texas where I live (not a very "Green" state" only about 20% of our electricity comes from coal. Even if you used West Virginia electricity (mostly coal) an electric vehicle will emit less CO2 than a similar size gas vehicle because electric motors use more than 90% of the energy sent to them. Gas motors use only about 1/4 of the energy in gasoline to move the car. That's why you don't have a gasoline powered air conditioner at home. It would cost 4 times as much to run.

When people ask if it can hit 60, I'm pretty sure it's just because they want a motorcycle without needing a license or insurance. I'd be lying if I said I didn't see the appeal of just hoping on a device and going where ever at speed without needing to be certified. Personally, I'd feel like 30 to is already pushing it if you can get around wearing gear (I do agree with the view expressed in the video). I wouldn't hit too many jumps with this though, a few reviews I saw said people damaged their motors doing jumps. Like it feels sturdy, but it's not built for extended roughhousing, I guess.

I'd like to see more videos about electric bikes. There are dozens of products on the market with a wide range of capabilities but I haven't seen much in the way of independent reviews. PS I'm a motorcycle rider with 50 years of experience but I can see the possible utility of ebikes and would like to know more.

To be fair, I really enjoyed that review. I've got an e-bike which here in the UK is restricted to 15.5 mph and no throttle allowed. Use it for my 6 mile inner city commute and it's the perfect tool for the job! It's just as quick to commute on as my Z900,

Hey Zack! Great review seems like you had a fun time🤙🏽 if you get the chance to ride the RX again give mode 4 a try when its above the 75% battery mark, you should get a lot more torque out of it and you should be able to top out at 31/32 mph, dont know if you’d wanna ride it again but i feel like it’ll impress you a bit more with it’s speed if you do, i’d really like to hear what you think of its full speed🙏🏽

I almost bought this and then was like ill be mad that I can't ride my 40mph bicycle anywhere . So I spent a cheaper dollar amount on an r3 and it was the best decision ever. Not to mention super 73 only has ONE manufacturer and it can take weeks to months to get the bike to come in and even parts and getting work done on them are hard unless you're located in Cali or near that one shop in NYC.
