Is there a formal name for this type of shoe? I believe John Lobb calls it a garter ?

I'm not into the lazyman style, but it's fun to watch your video as always!

No more than any other lazyman that has been created since the Churchill was. One key difference is this pair is made from a single piece of shell cordovan plus the heel counter, where The Churchill model has multiple pattern pieces constructing the vamp and facing of the shoe. While not a glaring aesthetic difference, the fewer pattern pieces the more complex the construction and execution will be.

great video. Anyway, those shoes look like some kind of a medieval torture device. I can only imagine someone wearing them if they just sit all day in an office. With soft carpet floors as well..

Thanks man. I’ve heard this a few times recently about a variety of shoes. Is it just that you’re not familiar with wearing proper leather dress shoes or leather sole? Classic mens shoes like this if fit correctly will be more comfortable than any sneaker or mass produced boot you can find.
