For it being 444 ci or 7.3 it needs cam and head work before it's even viable for hp then comes the cost of it which you'd be better going big cube sbf or bbf.

Love this engine and I hope the aftermarket stays with this engine. Problem is, Ford needs to drop this in more vehicles. Won’t be a true LS competitor unless the availability is there.

@@Joebauers2505 yeah but the Coyote is arguably harder to work on and more expensive. Don’t get me wrong I just picked up a gen 2 and I know they are superior engines. But for what I want to do (no prep street racing) the bigger low end torque push rod engines are the best for that. Especially for the 8th.

@@yaboykris2118 - also no if you knew anything about coyotes and dohc engine is they make torque lots of it no one buys ls for torque and that’s not how engines work. LOL cheap junkyard cookie cutter build that’s what the ls is. Cleetus went 7’s with a stock Godzilla potential is insane way better than lt or ls or gen 3 “hemi”. All this engine needs is time so prices drop and have more availability that’s all no discussion about it being a better engine, it’s a fact that it is.

This is great, transparent info so those curious can see what the basic swaps can produce. Every combo is different, but it gives a realistic baseline of what one could expect with a similar build. Nice!

With open exhaust you can bump the spark up a little, and probably add some fuel to it to get that power back, and more.

Pretty neat. I've always been and probably will be into the older engines like the windsors but it's cool to see a stock engine run deep into the 11s. If this car had some gear more weight reduction and some better tires this thing would be fast. Also tremec would be cool

Very impressive. But just a suggestions, close the windows when making track passes (open passenger window is catching air like a parachute LOL) and try some more RPMs (and add more water in the water box if need be) during the burnouts, I don't think that you were getting those tires hot enough. That car had 1.5x sixty foots in it. 🙂

The speedometer wasn't calibrated. The Autometer InVision dash is a nice part. Let me know if you have any questions about it. -Landan

A quick search shows that a 460 with aluminum heads weighs ~670 pounds. The 7.3L Godzilla without any accessory drive components weighs ~540 pounds. -Landan

Absolute awesome build 👏🏻 but if I'm honest, the numbers that the 7.3 put out aren't impressive enough. I honestly was expecting more power and just more put of a motor that I thought would be a monster. Now please correct me if I'm wrong or am I not seeing this correctly. ??

It's a stock truck engine with long tubes , it was not designed to be a performance engine ! That said once this engine is properly set up to be a performance engine you will see much better numbers , and keep in mind this car is sporting hwy gears 3.27 not drag strip friendly even with close to 500 ftp of torque at the wheels which also were spinning at launch .

@@pokergamesinteractivellc8841 Yes. The original plan was to use a Tremec TKX. Any transmission from a Ford modular V8 production engine will work with the 7.3L Godzilla. Some examples would be a 4R70W, 4R100, T45, and TR3650. The Godzilla engine shares the same bellhousing bolt pattern. -Landan

Back in the 90's, the R32 was dubbed "Godzilla" by consumers and the press, not the engine. The 7.3L big-block was code-named Godzilla.

You guys have had that engine for months and this is as far as you got really and you are Ford guys. Cleetus McFarland just got a Godzilla a few weeks ago put on a couple of turbos and have run the car into the 7's already.

Ours is designed as a street build (including A/C, full interior, etc.). We wanted to build it this way to help inspire others if they also plan to Godzilla swap their Fox Body. We are working on many other projects, parts, and product reviews on our channel. Which is why it took time to complete. 😉

You are not wrong. I have built many projects. But this is my first STREET/DRAG CAR build. Though I have ROADRACED all my life. I have only been down the STRIP a few dozen times in my life. LMR thought that I should be the one to test it out. I am Greatful for the opportunity. I would need some more seat time to get the hang of the DRAG RACE technique. @@ZLwh1ne The 4R70 was only used for the initial mock up and was never intended to be used in this build. You can see in the other episodes that we switched to the 6R80. There is an aftermarket Torque converter, 2500 stall, but it seems to be pulling before that.

Smh not really sure what the hype is about a motor designed to pull heavyweight, 7.3L = no rpm which also equals no horsepower, if looking to do tractor pulls id say your on the right track, but do drag race , what a waste of time and money, honestly with whatever the cost was to purchase and get swapped into mustang you could've invested into the stock motor with built bottom end and a turbo/ supercharged set up or even , N/a and kill that 7.3, but good job with motor swap
