30:57 i think they might want privilege, not power. In addition this prevalence of the "us vs. them in a Zero sum game" mentality in many people is puzzling, i guess this might speak to some form of insecurity and fear within themselves. Infer from Jessie's video, i guess some of those conservatives might need a "box" or a framework to identify themselves within and feel comfortable, like how boys are often couraged by our society to live up to an ideal image of manhood, they might cling to it now more than ever when society today could disfranchise so many of them; But they might not realize those boxes themselves could be constrictive and prevent grow and human connections. Thank you for your amazing videos!!! The Myth of "Male Socialization" by Jessie gender From 45:17 to end

How can you say that “protecting the children” is just a fluke of moral panics whenever we are seeing a disproportionate representation of adolescent girls moving down the trans medicalization pipeline? Adults aren’t flocking to re-gender themselves. How can you not factor TikTok and predatory algorithms into this? Not to mention that teens are going through so many hormonal and identity changes (that all of us adults have gone through in one way or another).
@QueerCollective

Is it disproportionate? Can you state your sources? Because the bottom line is the percentage of trans people in the world is incredibly low, but there have and always will be trans people. I don’t think tiktok is to blame. If someone discovers they’re trans then that’s who they always were and just didn’t previously have the language for it. The reason you’re seeing more young people start to identify as trans or non binary is because of the access to language and education, not because of predatory algorithms. Remember that the algorithm feeds you content based on your interests and curiosity

@@QueerCollective, have you read the Cass Review? It's lengthy, but important. The demographics have substantially changed in recent years, and that is one indicator that there are lurking variables and confounds involved. Not to mention the clustering of behavioral traits and communities inhabited by the younger generations of AFAB girls. I can send you a copy of the Cass review, if you would like.

@@QueerCollective, It's true that the percentage of trans people in the world has historically been low, and there always have been trans people. However, the recent explosion in numbers of young people identifying as trans or non-binary cannot be explained solely by "access to language and education." It's disingenuous to suggest that a significant number of these cases are people who "always were" trans but just didn't have the language for it. Social contagion and online trends absolutely play a role. The language itself has changed and become a catch-all for anything from AGP, to gender ideology, to gender dysphoria, and even just gender non-conformity. The reality is that most people don't conform entirely to traditional gender roles, but that doesn’t mean they are trans. Deviating from social expectations doesn't inherently mean a person is experiencing gender dysphoria. Don't pretend that all these young people have suddenly “discovered” the same language that described how people with old-school gender identity disorder (GID) felt. What’s happening now goes beyond that. Gender ideology doesn’t even attempt to be concise, measurable, or falsifiable, which makes it irrelevant within the scientific domain. It’s become a vague set of ideas that anyone can latch onto for any reason, and to suggest that all these young people are genuinely trans or non-binary is ignoring the more complex, nuanced picture. Finally, to address the algorithm: it’s not just feeding people content they’re already interested in. These platforms are actively promoting gender ideology to impressionable young people, shaping their beliefs and identities. The spike in numbers isn’t just about “discovering language”; it’s about an entire cultural shift driven by online trends, social validation, and misinformation. Wanting to stop child abuse (e.g., putting 10 year Olds on puberty blockers, lying to children about toxic nonbinary concepts) is not panic. How to care about children's mental health is a good moral discussion.
@bestwitch2931
8 ай бұрын
One perhaps best reserved for the countless medical professionals who constantly speak out in support of how important it is for the mental health of children to affirm their identities and gender and give them time to decide who they are. Puberty blockers are reversible and the whole point is it gives people time to think about what they want because what it isn’t reversible is puberty. For someone who is against surgery for whatever myriad reasons it’s more logical to support blockers, doctors actually prefer that people get blockers because it not only helps to prevent distress and teen suicide but reduces the likelihood of people feeling the need to get surgeries later on. Furthermore blockers have been used on cis gender children for decades to treat precocious puberty disorder but it’s only when medical professionals say it can be used safely for any child that it becomes controversial. People like to act like all these things are somehow a scientific, when in reality people who talk about child abuse and facts and logic ignore science in favor of their opinions and feelings. In reality child abuse can very much be forcing a child to go through puberty that might sound ridiculous to you but that is the science behind it when puberty can put people under significant stress beyond normal levels of confusion and anxiety. In other words trauma that increases the likelihood of suicide.

@bestwitch2931 Research has shown that experiencing puberty has been very helpful to boys who have described themselves as transgirls. And many European countries are pulling back on puberty blockers. In the United States, very few boys who go on puberty blocker have not gone off them so they aren't being used in the way you described.

The real child abuse is not getting your child the medically appropriate treatment for something they are struggling with. You are advocating for child abuse. Gender affirming care is life saving. This includes transgender youth

@@QueerCollective To further my thoughts... on line there seems to be many individuals who embraced the ideology, listened to the culture, trusted in the promise of gender care and affirmation... while fighting against this wave of so called 'moral panic'... (not sure what that means but...) these people now find themselves in a permanently altered body and they sum up more negative than positive experiences from their decisions and often horrible ordeals. I don't know what the pressures are on the streets these days for young people. I didn't grow up using the internet... so I'm not sure how much of this pressure is building because of social media versus real face to face time with fellow humans.

I think with any big changes you physically make to your body, there’s going to be some that regret it. I believe the percentage of people who regret a physical medical transition is around 1%. That can be compared to any other surgical procedures such as cosmetic surgery or even HRT for cis men. I think we experience social pressure in all kinds of forms, for example not being progressive enough or conservative enough or educated enough or *insert thing here*. Personally, I think what’s needed is more research into the topic of transitioning so that people are more well informed and we can begin to educate and avoid having individuals going through something that they might end up regretting later on, while still providing critical care to those that truly need it.

The percentage of post transiting regret is about 1% out of an extremely small population. Many of the anti-transition videos are being payed for by Christian funders.💙

I agree a lot of misunderstanding is over the terminology. That said, would we not have the same conversations about male bodies competing against female bodies in sports, or male bodies sharing private intimate safe spaces with female bodies? It's not about men among women, if those terms are gender-based, but they are males among females, which is sex-based. So really, the concern isn't about people's identity but about their biological sex. I agree that using the correct terminology instead of using sex and gender interchangeably would be a step in the right direction, but it wouldn't remove the concerns people have.

The problem with the terminology is that gender and genitals are derived from the same Latin root. (Gigno - to give birth, to generate) Gender is a classification based genitals. Redefining this term will always remain problematic.
@QueerCollective

Thank you for elaborating on that! I can understand why people will struggle with it but also, the meaning of words change all the time. Even thinking of the word gay, it didn’t used to be associated to homosexuality but society adopted it as such over time.
@michael2974

@@QueerCollective Thanks for the response. You're right, the meaning of words can change. Another way is to use new words and phrases. When computers were developed, new terms were created(byte, upgrade, version 2.0, etc.) that led to an easy integration that changed society. A little forethought could lead to greatly creative results. It would also reduce pushback. 'Gender' is more deeply ingrained in society than 'gay'. It's used internationally in linguistics and scientific disciplines where precision of meaning is relevant. I just see all this as an unnecessary complication that doesn't have to happen. Anyway, enjoy your day.
