I have that same gun. I bought it right before you reboot it last spring. I absolutely love it and probably will never hunt with anything else. Have had zero issues. I took you advise and got a trulock choke and ordered the verdict 9s and the salt Creek 10s. I pulverized a 24 lb gobbler at 43 steps with that verdict. Knocked him backwards and he didn’t even flop. I’m sold on this combination. I’ll add great review as well

I'm a big fan of the SA-28. Well the 28ga. Moss Int. rolled out with a turkey version that was a tad cheaper than the tristarG2. Now with these reviews(good thing) the market has went stupid nuts. Here's where you can save a ton of money. Look at who makes these guns, hint Armsan. And who sales them. You will see a whole different market. Legally I can't go any deeper. Same in the over/under market of Armsan. Its all in who imports them. Lol! The only negative i have on the moss sa28 was that huge front bead. I use a burris ff3 as a mid bead set up. My field version had the small brass bead that was just a tad off. (Hint) New or used do a deep clean due to a cycling issue. Smooth down the rough edges with a file and you will have a turkey killing machine. I've built 2 that is a 50yrd +. My gf has missed so many birds inside of 20yrds. Now she has converted to a ff3. And we will see how that works. Lol

Just a little more info to add to the vid, the mossberg sa line is actually the weatherby sa-459. Mossberg bought the patent from weatherby and there still being made in the same place as before. That’s why it’s so different than most mossberg turkey guns. Awesome vid I love my sa-20ga. Which sight do you have on yours? I’m using a holsun but like how your sight has the open sights as well.

I believe the SA28 has a 12.5 LOP and the TriStar is a more standard longer LOP.

I bought this gun for the wife thanks to your reviews and I got to be honest. Im thinking about retiring my 11-87 12gauge 28imch barrel for one of these. I patterned quite a few different 28 gauge rounds and Im thinking Im lugging around wayyy too much gun with the Remington.

I haven’t. I will say, though, that for these tests I only use one load at a time. We had a few early that didn’t keep the handle back/action open, but that hasn’t happened in a while. When we shot skeet, we didn’t have any cycling issues.

I really want to pick up this turkey shotgun for my kids. My only hesitation is that it only shoots 2 3/4” shells and most of the turkey shells are 3”. Will this be a problem? Thank you!
@ReviewThisThing

Most of the 28 gauge turkey shells are 2 3/4" shells anyway. If you're looking .410, 12, or 20 gauge, then 3" would matter.

I was really disappointed when my son brought home his 835 Tactical Turkey. It didn't have the safety by the trigger but the pistol grip wasn't the best design because you had to move your hand to work the thumb safety and the fit and finish was kind of poor. The loading port will take skin off, they could have done much better than that for the crazy money they wanted for that gun. As for a sub gauge gun, most people won't want it but it would be nice, not sure why it wasn't a 20 gauge but whatever. I hope the semi auto is nicer they're asking about the same money for it. 28 gauge is popular in the UK for shooting clays and birds it's an awesome round just haven't seen it anywhere for years.

@@ronschriner1894 The new one has the safety by the trigger. With the pistol grip even though I'm 6'3" I have to move my hand the reach the safety because of the pistol grip. I like the ambi tang safety but not with that pistol grip. Plus the fit and finish (not that Mossberg was know for it but) has went a little down hill. (sharp edges etc) I like my 500 but wouldn't want the pistol grip! Unless it had a trigger safety.
