I'm just entering my journey into building 6mm terrain. While I won't be able to copy what was in this spectacular video, it's certainly wonderful inspiration. Thanks!

i'm having so much fun with it :) hoping to get Lee back again soon and then when we start another game we'll try and shoot some actual batreps and play throughs :) It's really cool that someone else knows this ruleset...

30 years ago I ran the UK Student Wargames Championships at Salford University which had a fairly popular Moderns Challenger section. Brings back happy memories!

Hi - Great table and episode. Can you advise the name and maker of the basic grass mats shown here? Or try and hazard a guess? Nicely done indeed!

Thank you very much, I'm very pleased you enjoyed the video. This terrain wasn't made by me, sadly, and it is long gone. I believe that the person who made it said it was materials used by model railway builders and that makes sense to me. I know you can buy those mats in a lot of places. Sorry I cannot be of more help, and thanks again for watching, and for the kind words.

Wow , insperational , fantastic , like Squad Leader come to life. I,m starting cold war games in 20mm scale , but your scale looks far more natural.

amazing terrain, I am just using mats as don't have the skill and space to make such boards and store them , I have finished painting my micro armour ultra modern forces now just got to play some games with them.

It really was awesome, huh. Yeah, I think mats are much more flexible and have more utility as well; that way you can make lots of different scatter terrain and set it up however you want, rather than being constrained by the tiles and where you've placed things. Enjoy your gaming mate!

Yeah it was fun to play, though long... I had to inject some humour and character role play (naming the drivers of particular tanks for example) else I found it became quite tedious and a bit too much table-checking. Thanks for the comment :)

I used to play this in the 1980’s when I was at school/sixth form. Extremely detailed, slow and simulationist. Not sure I’d play with that particular rule set again today but your layout and terrain look lovely! I’m looking at Team Yankee and Seven Days to the Rhine with my Russian and Bundeswehr GHQ collection.

Hey, thank you so much for your comment. Yeah, this wasn't my game or terrain and it's no longer set up at my place so we never did get any more games on it; I enjoyed it, but only because I'm pretty stubborn at putting roleplay type elements into every game (so I named the drivers of my scout cars that were destroyed which then meant there was banter about their wives being serenaded by the SAS in the pub - that kind of thing). I think without that I would not have enjoyed it very much, with all the table checking. It was beautiful terrain, though. Just this weekend I played some DBA with 15mm which was a lot of fun, for proper historical wargaming. I don't get much modern day stuff done yet as I'm still building for Chain of Command :) Thanks again for commenting. Take care.

This table looks absolutely amazing. I’m very tempted to give this a go (on a much smaller scale) and was just wondering how are the roadways made? Are they simply painted on to the grass mat, or is it a different material laid over? I need to find some of those small scale trees also. Thanks for this vid, really enjoyed it 👍🏻

I have also the Rules for Challanger 2000. But in old Paperbook. I play it 25 Years ago on Hex 3D Terrain Plates . Did you have it in Digital? or more Lists and Stuff?

Hey, I have my friend (Lee)'s paper copy from back in the day so we have paper tables and lists and that. It is very old school. I'm loving how popular this game seems to be - I've already got in touch with Lee to tell him he needs to get back over so we can do some more videos :) Thank you for the comment.
