I have been fly fishing since the 1950's and I always used a metal eyelet with barbs to push inside the fly line. The barbs prevents the eyelet from pulling out of the inside of the fly line. Then I tie on my leader and then used blood knot or similar to put on tippet if necessary for trout or other clear water fishing.

I remember those from years ago, but haven't seen them recently. Seem like a smart idea.

most of the fly lines don't have a loop.

how about gluing 2' of leader to the fly line and then put on a tippet ring?

That would work too!

You definitely don’t want a hinge at your fly line and leader connection. If you can get the leader up inside the fly line at least an inch or two, if possible, that would help. You also have to remember that UV light degrades superglue over time, so be sure to reapply fairly often.

I am using zap a gap which is UV safe. I also do extend the leader farther into the line. Good points!

As I said in the video, this has been around for a long time, I just was made aware by the article in Trout magazine.
