Taormina is not cheap, but it's worth it. It's a very posh city of Sicily

Taormina was one of many highlights of our recent trip to Sicily. Yes it is expensive, but there are enough beauty to take in. Highlights of Taormina was the aranchinis at Stritfud (7:58 in the video) , gelato at the 2 gelatarias close to Porto Messina. Unfortunately Isola Bella was really overrated for us. Further afoeld, we had an amazing family lunch (very affordable) at Cafe de Mar in Giardini Naxos. Also visited Noto and Syracuse, be sure to get to both with enough time.

Thank you! 🤗 We absolutely loved all of these places! It turned out they’re not over-hyped :). However, Santorini wins - contrary to popular belief, you can still find very affordable accomodation in Santorini (that is also the best value for money - my parents next week are staying for 7 nights for 450 euro in a really nice, modern apartament- 9.2 on booking! In the city centre of Thira), also prices in the restaurants are much more reasonable and you just don’t get this impression that everyone wants to get rich on you - opposite to Italy ☹️). In Sicily they had all the possible fees everywhere - 7 euro for Beach parking, 7 euro for the entrance to the Beach, 5 euro for the sunbed, separate fee for the towel etc. It was insane. Everything is very expensive but it doesn’t go in line with the quality. We love Italy, but in the recent time this thing started to annoy us a bit. Regarding Santorini - we’re getting married there next week! Stay tuned for upcoming vlogs ❤️

Would you say that Taormina is a good place for a family of 4? I am 19 and my sister is 13. Will she get bored? x

Taormina is expensive and is on a hill, so for a family is more suitable a place with a beach., if you lake the sea.

Indeed! We planned to visit Sicily in 2020, we’ve booked a nice airbnb and rented a car. Due to pandemic, everything got cancelled, our flights etc. Going there in 2021 at the end we paid much more than planned before (e.g. The car was 20 euro per day in 2020 and in 2021 we had to pay 100 euro per day for the same car). Sicily surprised as negatively when it comes to prices! 😔

So you went to the beach and you didn't went in to much because you didn't wear the right shoes etc? How about buying some at a local store and enjoy the swing. Or use shoes if you wanna be cheap and not spend any money on it. Is not like you will get to do that every weekend

Think of how crowded it would be if the prices were lower.
