Next year I'm planning to move from Phoenix to find a property exactly like this one. I will build a house within a rundown house like this one. I kind of did this here in Phoenix. I like living in a tiny space but tiny houses are hard to find. So just live basically in one room. I increase wall thickness to 8-12" insulation, ceilings too in the room I live in to make it very cheap to cool/heat and comfortable. The rest of the house I make into a wood shop to make things.

You can use GFCI outlets to allow 3 prong outlets in a house that is only wired for 2 prong outlets. GFCI on the first outlet of a circuit then regular 3 prong outlets on each outlet in the circuit. Its the only way to do it to code unless you rip out and re-wire a house.
@knurlgnar24

It amazes me the amount of effort people put into ripping out a few dollars of copper when actually doing something productive would yield a much higher return on ones time. I understand the theft incentive in general, but unless you're stealing whole rolls of copper wire it's just stupid. Like you said, must be drugs. I guess when you're up for 10 days straight on a constant dopamine fix it just seems like the thing to do.

That was a cool old place, especially the upstairs. The garage is in great shape. If anyone wanted to spend time fixing up the old house, they could easily convert that into a space comfortable enough to live in temporarily. That's what I'm doing with a shed on a property I inherited that's been uninhabited for several years. I don't live here but I could stay overnight if I needed. It has electric & septic connections & can fit essentials for temporary occupation.

That's a very nice house. What a shame. "It's probably the wind" Ghosts live in abandoned houses. That's how it works. When you enter a dwelling saying "Is there anybody in here?", the spirits will answer if there's any there. Should keep a cross on you or say a little prayer for protection.

Wow !!! American electrical regs seem to be far less strict than UK regs. For example ... sockets are completely prohibited in a bathroom unless they are shaver sockets and they have an isolation transformer in them. All sockets must be protected with what we call an RCD, you call them GFCI sockets I believe only in UK systems the RCD protection is built into breakers in the distribution board and will serve half the distribution board each along with MCB (over current breakers / miniature circuit breakers). The main reason for this is that we have 32A ring final circuits connecting the sockets in a ring. We do this because our plugs have individual fuses to give a maximum current of 13A on each outlet so just over 3KW from each socket. A lot of our installations now use RCBO'S, these are RCD and MCB breakers in one module. This gives each circuit overcurrent and 30ma of leakage protection. I suppose that in the USA because you use 110V and not 240V the hazard is slightly reduced. The only disadvantage is that your cables have to carry a higher current than ours. We use a slightly different earthing system to you as well. We have substations that serve many homes and its at this point that the neutral and earth conductors are bonded together. Some older installations use earth rods as the earth but the first type is more common. We do however fit earth rods on outbuildings or hot tubbs ect. Our testing and certification rules however are very strict. All services into the home like water and gas have to be bonded to earth and the tests we have to run to certify each circuit are sometimes a little excessive. That's a very colourful house and wouldn't look out of place in the UK. Thanks for the interesting explore, I love the variety you have on your channel though I do like the work you do in the countryside and with the beavers the most for sure, those and the wild camping I like the most. Great content as always 👍 :)

The reason cool old houses like this are rarely bought and restored is that they usually sit on a big enough parcel of land that 3-4 new houses could be built there. Sadly, the owners just let the house go to ruin while waiting for the property values to get high enough that it's worth demolishing the old house, subdividing the lot, then building new houses.
@TylerDuysen

those are gcfi outlets not gfci they automatically kick the breaker in case of moisture such as floods this house would make a great renovation or fixer upper project and yeah vandals are assholes but then again to be a vandal you have to have no decency karma will hopefully get them back one day anyway great video
