I'd say first take 90 minutes from your weekend and watch Rock n Roll Nerd. Then dive straight down into the Tim Minchin rabbit hole. Often missed is Lullaby, his best love song for his now probably 12 year old daughter.. There is so much more to him and Sarah than in this video. Matilda the musical, Groundhog Day, Upright, and so on. I like some rap and RHCP, but nobody seems to be able to keep up with Tim.

Tim Minchin is also a twice Tony Award nominated composer and lyricist for his work on Groundhog Day and Matilda. In addition to his work as an actor, comedian, songwriter, and producer (I think he has some other credits/talents as well). Watching his interviews he also is incredibly articulate and a deep thinker. He seems to be a very compassionate and humble person who isn’t afraid to confront injustice in his songwriting. He recently appeared on a podcast called Weirder Together with Ben Lee and Ione Skye which is worth a watch. If you’d like to get an idea of his comedic work, try listening to Prejudice. It’s a brilliant piece of work

Tim is awesome. Saw him live the other night and it was the best show I've ever been to. I can't explain his level of talent, intelligence and charisma other than "not human," while making you feel like a completely inadequate human. He really draws you in and manipulates all your feelings - in a good way. He played a bit of Darkside, and when he got to the fur elise part he proceeded to play it in about 10 different complicated styles before transitioning into another song.

I don't watch a lot of reaction videos, and I have no idea how my rabbit hole led me here, but MAN did I get a kick out of your video! I remember the first time I watched the video of that special, and watching Tim do that... insanity that he does on that song, I must have re-watched it at least half a dozen times back to back. It was actually that performance in fact that finally pushed me over the edge to start learning piano. It's not that I ever even dream of being that good, but it is the joy that Tim gets out of music... his music, other people's music, it just gives him noticeable joy. I find that inspiring. Anyway, it was also a joy watching someone experience the madness that is Tim for the first time, and I hope you have explored the rest of his performances. He is a rare person, and I am glad you found him!

Minchin became a comedy performer because he wasn't getting any traction as a straight musician/performer or composer. Then he transititioned into acting and then musicals and almost into directing an animated feature but apparently the production company canned it after like 2 years and 40m spent. Anyway, he's primarily a music man. But he got range.
